yeah this is a bit of a toughie. cal has the talent for a very good offense; QB kevin riley hasn't been bad and they've got a great 1-2 at tailback with best and shane vereen (jahvid best would have eaten the competition if he could've stayed healthy) they had momentum with two great wins against stanford and 'zona near the end of the season but then laid an egg against washington.
utah, on the other hand, beat all the teams they were supposed to and with the exception of the TCU game, their losses were by very close margins. they lost to rose bowlin' oregon by a TD and took BYU to OT.
utah plays stout defense, i could see them causing some turnovers and pulling the....upset??....on the Pac-10 competition.
basically, one team is coming off a humiliating loss, one is coming off a frustrating loss, which do you think is more motivating?
The Utah Utes come into this game 9-3, 6-2 in the MWC. The California Golden Bears are currently 8-4, 5-4 in the PAC 10. Utah has won eight straight bowl appearances including a huge upset last year over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Cal is coming off an embarrassing 41-10 loss to Washington in their last game that cost them a chance to play in the Holiday Bowl. The Golden Bears will pin their hopes in this game on the arm of QB Kevin Riley, who passed for over 2600 yards in the regular season.
I'm going with the Utes +3
