College Basketball Betting – Wildcats Look To Avoid Upset At LSU
There are a number of NBA prospects on the Kentucky basketball team, which is nothing new, and this season’s edition hasn’t even played to their potential yet. The Wildcats will take their perfect SEC record into LSU, where the Tigers have already taken down a ranked opponent in Marquette.
Kentucky LSU Odds – Saturday, 4:00 PM ET
The top-ranked Wildcats (20-1, 6-0 SEC) flexed their defensive muscles in a 57-44 win at Georgia and if they’re going to remain a Bet Online favorite for the national title, they’ll need to continue their effort on that end of the floor. Kentucky held Georgia to 34.5% from the field and they were very patient, sending the Bulldogs to the line just three times. Darius Miller came off the bench with 19 points, while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 14 points and 11 boards for the Wildcats, who outrebounded Georgia 39-18. The Wildcats’ offense still sputters at time, even though point guard Marquis Teague had one of his best games of the season with seven assists and no turnovers. Even Super Bowl betting players will tell you that defense is the key to a championship run, and Kentucky’s is good enough to overcome many of their offensive problems.
The Tigers (12-8, 2-4 SEC) have now dropped four of their last five after a 76-71 loss at Mississippi State, and they were beaten on the boards (the Bulldogs held a 40-23 edge on the glass, including 15-7 on the offensive end) and at the foul line (LSU was 8-of-13, while Mississippi State was 23-of-31). Andre Stringer came off the pine to score 17 points, while Anthony Hickey had 16 points and six assists for the Tigers, who don’t have much of a profile among those that work with price per head software, but at home, anything can happen; they defeated then-No.10 Marquette 67-59 at Pete Maravich Assembly Center back in December.
However, Kentucky should still be the favorites on the road at LSU, where they are 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS in their last four trips with three of the games going under the posted total. The Tigers have had troubles scoring this season and the last thing they need is to run into Kentucky, who defend hard all over the court for 40 minutes. If you can break down the perimeter defense, you have to deal with Anthony Davis, arguably the best player in college basketball; there is no player more disruptive on the defensive end of the floor. Kentucky’s athleticism will be far too much for LSU to handle for 40 minutes, and the Wildcats will eventually cruise to a win, covering the college basketball betting spread.
