Coming off a win over
Travis Lutter (9-5) at
UFC 83: Serra vs. St. Pierre 2, April 19 in Montreal, Canada,
Rich Franklin (23-3) is happy to be back on the winning track.
"That's the second time I have been able to fight in front of a record-breaking crowd," he explains. "It makes a big difference. [Almost] 22,000 people is a lot of people to fight in front of live. It's a good feeling, especially when you have a good reception from the fans."
With a solid TKO victory over the jiu-jitsu expert, Franklin showed the Canadian fans that he's ready for anyone in the octagon. Still, the former UFC middleweight champion says he won't fight UFC champion
Anderson Silva (21-4) for a third time.
"Anybody that were to lose a title shot, if they were to win two or three times, it would be enough to put back in contention," he tells MMAJunkie. "However in my case, now that I have lost to [Silva] twice, I don't think it changes the number of wins because (even) if I won six times, I'm not sure if that's a fight the public wants to see."
Franklin says he wants the fights that the fans want. Namely, entertaining matches.
"I have to look for fights that would be entertaining for the public," he says, "fights that people will be interested in seeing."
