Light heavyweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter, Rashad Evans (11-0-1) has a new opponent for UFC 85.
Originally, Evans was booked to face former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell (21-5), but now that a hamstring injury has forced "The Iceman" off the card, matchmakers have chosen a new opponent.
Saturday, June 7 in London, England, Evans will face James "The Sandman" Irvin (14-4), the 205-pound goliath who recently KO'd Houston Alexander (8-3) at UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2.
"I'm a little bit disappointed," Evans tells MMAweekly.com, "but I think I'm at the point where I'm kind of over all of it and focusing on my new opponent. He's very tough and brings a lot of things to the table so I definitely can't go in there being sad cause I'm not fighting Chuck. Hopefully nothing happens to James Irvin. I hope he has a good training camp."
