| The creator of the first Ultimate Fighting Championships is getting back into mixed martial arts. In 2001, Bob Meyrowitz sold the UFC for two million dollars to brothers Lorenzo Fertitta and Frank Fertitta, who have since turned it into a multi-million dollar phenomenon with the help of UFC president Dana White. Friday, April 11 in Atlantic City, N.J., Meyrowitz is hoping to see some of that cash come his way with his new MMA event, Yamma Pit Fighting. The card features octagon veterans like Oleg Taktarov (15-5-2) and Mark Kerr (15-6) who will fight in one of two superfights. In the other, Pat Smith (14-13) will face Eric "Butterbean" Esch (10-5-1). The card also features a heavyweight tournament. Athletes will fight inside a structure called "The Yamma" which features a bowl-shaped concave floor. Promoters hope it will prevent fighters from stalling.
