The road to Arena Bowl XXII begins on Friday night with the first Wild Card round AFL betting matchup between Dallas and New York. Football betting fans have plenty of information to refer to in this postseason sports gambling matchup, as the Desperados and Dragons already met up twice during the regular season.
The Desperados and Dragons first clashed in New York back in Week 5. A late safety on a blocked field goal in the fourth quarter allowed Dallas to pull off a close 33-31 win as a 12-point road favorite. Dallas started Chris Sanders at quarterback in the win, with regular starter Clint Dolezel out with a separated shoulder.
Sanders passed for 222 yards with three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions in the win. Marcus Nash had a pair of TD receptions. New York QB Aaron Garcia threw for 174 yards with three touchdowns and an interception, while Chris Anthony caught two TDs.
In the rematch in Week 16 in Dallas, the Desperados and the Dragons fought down to the final whistle again in a 51-48 Dallas win. However, the Desperados were a 6-point favorite on the AFL odds and failed to cover the spread again.
Dolezel was back in the starting lineup for Dallas and passed for 257 yards with five TD passes, a TD run and an interception. Andrae Thurman led all Dallas receivers with eight receptions for 88 yards and three touchdowns. Garcia got the stat at QB for New York again and threw for 307 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions. Jason Willis and Kevin Swayne each had two touchdown catches for the Dragons in the loss.
In Friday’s playoff battle the Desperados are a 7.5-point home favorite.
