The AFL playoffs are on the horizon, but there’s still plenty to be decided with two weeks to go in the regular season. On Friday night the New Orleans VooDoo and Orlando Predators clash in a must-win game for both teams. A win for the VooDoo and they clinch a playoff spot, while the Predators need a win to remain in the playoff hunt. It will be up to AFL betting fans to figure out which teams wants it more on Friday night.
The VooDoo have lost two straight heading into Friday night after a 58-51 loss to New York back in Week 15. New Orleans was a 2-point underdog on the AFL odds in the game. VooDoo quarterback Danny Wimprine only completed 19-of-41 passes for 207 yards with six touchdowns and an interception in the loss. Ira Gooch and Jeremiah Pope each hauled in a pair of touchdown passes.
The Predators also lost last week, their third in a row, to Tampa Bay by a score of 71-61 as a 3.5-point underdog. Predators’ QB Shane Stafford had a solid game in the loss, throwing for 362 yards with eight touchdowns and an interception. Kevin Nickerson caught 10 passes for 129 yards and a TD, while Levon Thomas had three TD receptions.
The VooDoo and the Predators squared off back in Week 2 when New Orleans pulled off a 54-53 upset as a 7.5-point home underdog. Wimprine had six TD passes for New Orleans and James Jordan caught three of them in the close win. Stafford tossed four TDs for Orlando, but he also had a pair of interceptions. T.T. Toliver had three TD receptions and Marlon Moye-Moore had a big game on the ground with three rushing touchdowns.
Orlando is a 3-point home favorite in the rematch with their playoff lives on the line.
