Online MLB Betting Action - Los Angeles Angels at Los Angeles Dodgers
While both teams claim Los Angeles as their home base of operations, the Los Angeles Angels, (48-31, 41-38 RL) and Los Angeles Dodgers, (36-42, 32-46 RL) don’t have much at all in common besides their respective namesakes as the Angels are perennial AL Pennant contenders and one of the best teams in the American League in the BetUS Sportsbook and the Dodgers are much younger and less experienced, though they are heading in the right direction under one of the game’s most respected managers in former New York Yankees leader Joe Torre.
Despite losing their series finale to the lowly Washington Nationals 5-4 on Thursday, the Angels have been on a tear in the BetUS Sportsbook, winning five consecutive games prior to Thursday and seven of their last ten overall.
The Dodgers have gone 5-5 for the BetUS MLB online sports wagering community in their last ten games, but have dropped two of their last three, including a 2-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.
The Freeway Series between these teams has been dominated by the more experienced Angels as they have won nine of the last 11 meetings between the teams while outscoring their city rivals 63-22 during the span.
"I think it's different for the fans, because they say we're rivals," catcher Mike Napoli told the Angels' official Web site. "It gets electric. They get into it."
The Angels will hand the ball to outstanding left-hander Joe Saunders (11-3, 3.03 ERA), who enters tonight’s matchup looking to become the leading winner in the majors.
Saunders was sharp as ever in his last start as he limited the Philadelphia Phillies to two runs in seven innings of L.A.’s 6-2 win on Saturday.
"Joe Saunders did a terrific job putting up all the zeros," manager Mike Scioscia told the Angels' site. "Joe was in the zone early and expanded it when he needed to. He created depth by changing speeds."
The Dodgers will turn counter Saunders by handing the ball to veteran right-handed reliever Chan Ho Park, (2-2, 2.83) who gets his second consecutive start as the Dodgers battle injuries in their starting rotation.
Park looked like he belonged in the Dodgers’ starting rotation in his last start as he limited the Cleveland Indians to just one run in five innings on Saturday despite the fact that the Dodgers ended up giving the game away, losing 7-2 in 11 innings.
Park is 5-7 with a 5.75 ERA in 18 career starts against the Angels while Saunders has gone 3-0 with a 2.60 ERA in four career interleague starts, with all three wins coming against the NL this season.
Here is a look at tonight’s key online sports wagering trends followed by my analysis and MLB online betting Free Picks.
The Angels are 4-0 in Saunders' last four interleague starts.
The Angels are 8-1 in Saunders' last nine Friday starts.
The Dodgers are 5-1 in Park’s last six starts.
The Dodgers are 5-1 in Park’s last six starts on grass.
The Over is 5-0 in Saunders' last five road starts vs. a team with a losing record.
The Under is 5-1 in Park’s last six starts as a home underdog.
The Dodgers are 6-1 in Park’s last seven starts vs. Angels.
The Angels are 9-2 in the last eleven meetings.
Analysis: I’ve always like Chan Ho Park and while it’s nice to see the veteran pitcher throwing the ball so well recently, he certainly isn’t in the same class as the Angels’ Joe Saunders. The bottom line for the BetUS MLB online sports wagering community is that the Angels are far and away the better team in this series. Take the Angels to cruise to victory behind another stellar effort from Joe Saunders.
