There are some other quality Tight End matchups out there for you to ponder as you try to advance toward your Fantasy Championship. Here is a look at the top 5 Fantasy Football Tight End plays for Week 15 of the NFL season.
1. Rob Gronkowski, Patriots
There is little doubt about the top TE dog this week – Gronk is back and ready to assume his rightful position at the top! He and the Patriots get the Titans this week in one of the biggest mismatches on the schedule. Although still not fully healthy he proved his worth last week catching four passes for 87 yards and a TD. Gronk is one of the only reliable weapons for the best QB in the game right now.
If this game doesn’t get out of hand early expect to see a lot of Gronkowski Sunday. 6-8 catches for 100 yards and a TD shouldn’t be a problem!
2. Greg Olsen, Panthers
Olsen got a little nicked up last week – he sustained a knee injury that apparently won’t keep him out this week against the Giants in what has potential to be a bit of a shootout. Olsen has been the most reliable pass catcher in one of the best offenses in the game and will HAVE to have a big game for the Panthers to remain undefeated. He has gone over 70 yards receiving in each of his last four games – my guess is that he keeps that streak going against the G-Men. 8 catches for 80 yards and a TD this week has Olsen a solid #2 option.
3. Jordan Reed, Redskins
Reed, when healthy is one of the best pass-catching Tight Ends in the game – period. And he’s healthy now! He had over 100 yards last week in a win and could see more targets this week with DeSean Jackson expected to be sitting this contest out. Reed has 6 TDs on the year and has gone over 70 yards 7 times. Expect more of the same Sunday. 7 catches for 70 yards and a TD makes Reed and easy top 5 option this week.
4. Gary Barnidge, Browns
It’s hard to imagine Johnny Manzeil and the Browns getting much done against Seattle in the Pacific Northwest but if they get anything going it will be thanks to Barnidge who has become one of the most reliable Tight Ends in the game. He had 5 catches for 84 yards and a TD last week and was truly Manzeil’s safety valve. Johnny will need a safety valve this week! I’m expecting the Browns to exploit one of the only holes in Seattle’s defense – their play against Tight Ends and to reel in 5-7 catches for 60-70 yards and Cleveland’s only TD on the day.
5.Julius Thomas, Jaguars
Jacksonville QB Blake Bortles has been on fire as of late and Thomas has benefitted. He has scored in four straight games and continues to be a consistent Red Zone threat for the Jags.
You can bet that Jacksonville will be winging it all over the park Sunday against a brutal Atlanta defense. My guess is that Thomas gets his share of looks and does a bunch with his opportunities. Look for 5 or so catches for around 60 yards and a TD – good enough for top 5 numbers this week.
