It will be interesting to see whether the Bears can maintain the momentum of their comeback win at San Francisco on Sunday night.
[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
They dominated on the road in the second half, aided by some gaffes from Colin Kaepernick of course but still. It was just the kind of rebound performance Chicago needed after dropping their home opener to Buffalo.
This is a real good opportunity to get another win if they are healthy enough to do so.
It is nice to see that the receivers, the engine of this club, are not on the injured list coming into this week.
The Jets don’t have the same kind of secondary they have had in the past and I expect that Jay Cutler will be able to find some cracks on one side or the other and make some plays.
[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
The fact that the Jets have a strong run defense is likely to be a complete moot issue.
The Jets may only be 1-1 but they are leading in two generally important categories – rushing yards and rushing yards allowed. Nobody considers this team a real threat so it will be interesting if that trend continues and the results are middling, yet a further indication of the NFL being all about the forward pass.
The Jets have shown to be competitive in both of their contests and that is a trend that I do expect to continue throughout the course of the season.
The to this one for New York is going to be playing with a lead.
This is not a team built for catchup but if they are out in front they can be methodical with their offense and stay committed to moving it on the ground Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson and even QB Geno Smith sometimes.
[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
The minute they have to depend on passing game they are in trouble, especially is Eric Decker can’t answer the bell.
Love the value on Chicago here. I would have made them the favourite or at least a pick’em for this one.
NFL Total Score prediction: Chicago 27 – New York 17
The cushion is nice but I would look strongly at the ML on the Bears as well.

This week’s match up between the Colts and Jaguars was probably pegged as a walk in the park for Indy, even before the season got underway. What many people likely didn’t see coming is that both teams would be at 0-2 records after two weeks of play.
[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
Okay, perhaps most predicted that the Jags would still be without a win, but the Colts are 0-2 for the first time since 2011 when Peyton Manning went down with a neck injury. This start also marks the first time in his career that QB Andrew Luck has lost back to back games.
Since 1990, only 12 per cent of teams that start 0-2 have made the playoffs and if either team wants to buck that trend this week is a must win game.
Let’s start with the home team who have been pretty much par for the course to this point. The Jags are just not a good football team, it’s that simple. They showed some flashes early in week one against the Eagles, jumping out to a 17-0 lead at half, only to lose by a count of 34-17. In week two against another NFC East opponent in the Washington Redskins, they were torched by backup QB Kirk Cousins to the tune of 41-10.
[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
If there’s one shred of a silver lining for the Jags this week it’s that they will get the comforts of home cooking, as their first two games of the year were on the road.
The Jags rank dead last in yards per game on offense 30th in points scored per game and dead last in points per game allowed on defense. It’s going to be a long year, sorry Jags fans.
If the Colts ever needed a game against Jacksonville, this is certainly it. After opening their season against two potent offenses in Denver and Philadelphia, the Colts get a break against one of, if not the worst offense in the league this week.
The Colts and Jags share not only their 0-2 records, but they were both victimized by Philadelphia Eagles comebacks. On Monday night the Colts looked to be in firm control and were eating the Eagles alive with their run game, storming out to a 20-6 lead at the half.
In the second half the Eagles made some adjustments on D and shut the run game down, and the Colts never quite recovered. Their defense ran out of gas late and the pace of Philly had them reeling.
[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
This week will be a different story, if the Colts jump out to a big lead at half, they should have no trouble closing the deal against an offense that has scored just three second half points to this point in the season.
I don’t really see any reason why the Colts shouldn’t roll the Jaguars in this one. Seven points is very generous to Jacksonville and if this game were being played in Indy, I’d expect it to be more in the realm of 14 points.
Home field won’t help the Jags out much this week as the Colts are a playoff caliber team that is going to be out for blood this week after a disappointing 0-2 start.

After hitting my first two-team parlay of the new NFL season I had both winners in last week’s parlay. The problem is that you can only cash-in if both teams cover the spread.
That means it is back to the drawing board for Week 3 in the NFL to find another pair of matchups that are sure-fire winners based on betting odds from sites at Cappers Picks.

Pointspread: New Orleans -9.5
Total Line: 51
I went against the Vikings last week as three-point home underdogs against New England not because of the whole Adrian Peterson mess, but because they are the Vikings.
[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
I am going the same way this week given that Minnesota now has to go on the road to a place that even good teams cannot win games.
It is not all bad with the Vikings behind some decent play from quarterback Matt Cassel and a solid performance from the defense in Minnesota’s 34-6 victory over St. Louis on opening day, but this team is walking into a hornet’s nest this Sunday in New Orleans.
This Sunday the rubber meets the road at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, where the Saints desperately need a win to avoid a dreaded 0-3 start. The current pointspread has actually come down a bit after opening at 10.5 points which only makes this game all the more attractive.
[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
4* NFL Parlay Pick:
There is no doubt that New Orleans’ defense has had its issues in back-to-back losses to Atlanta and Cleveland as a road favorite, but a return to the Big Easy should quickly right the ship with a dominant win that covers the 9.5 points.
Pointspread: Houston -2.5
Total Line: 42
The Texans are just one victory away from eclipsing last season’s win total after posting back-to-back wins over Washington and Oakland to start the year.
While that may not be such an impressive achievement given the way both of those teams have looked so far, you cannot deny how well Houston’s defense looked by allowing a grand total of just 20 points in the two wins.
JJ Watt is earning every penny of his new fat contract and the Texans are getting it done even with first-round pick Jadeveon Clowney out of the starting lineup due to injury.
New York was hoping to quickly erase the memory of last season’s 0-6 start, but it is becoming to be a reoccurring nightmare with losses to Detroit and Arizona by a combined score of 60-28 in the first two games this season.
[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
Eli Manning is up to his old tricks with four interceptions and the Giants’ overall turnover ratio is already at the bottom of the NFL at -5. This was the primary cause of last year’s slow start.
I fully expect head coach Tom Coughlin to once again circle the wagons to get his team out of this funk, but it is not going to happen this week against Houston’s defense.
4* NFL Parlay Pick:
The Texans will probably run their record to 3-0, but I am going with the UNDER 42 as my top pick in the back-end of this week’s two-team NFL parlay.
