Twelve seed North Dakota State advanced with a huge upset over No. 5 Oklahoma on Thursday, and will take on the San Diego State Aztecs in the third round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday.

SDSU is 10-7 ATS O/U record of 3-13 Boise State is 6-11 ATS with an O/U record of 5-10.
Rocky Long wasn’t necessarily a popular hire when San Diego State brought him, but his first two years with San Diego State have been tremendous. He has done a great job building on what Brady Hoke started. The Aztecs return six starters on the offensive side and nine on the defensive in 2013.
The Aztecs postseason position should be secure but this win would only help. It would give them an outside shot at the Mountain West regular season crown and a sweep over the Lobos for the season – they are the only ranked team they have beaten this year.
It kind of feels like the Aztecs have fallen off the face of the earth, doesn’t it. They were supposed to be a national player this year but are only 3rd in their own conference right now.
The Lobos are good but I don’t think anybody thought they would be leading the Mountain West this season. So far they are undefeated in conference play having already beaten UNLV and looking to get a leg up on San Diego State after this weekend.
BYU might is no longer a part of the Mountain West Conference but they still played a few games against some familiar foes this season. This will be a chance to show the MWC that they are still a program to be reckoned with.
Brady Hoke turned this team around and Rocky Long did a good job of keeping it going last year. The job will get a little tougher now with a more difficult Mountain West Conference. It also gets more difficult now that the team won’t have Ryan Lindley or Ronnie Hillman in the backfield.
NFL legend Marshall Faulk’s alma mater, San Diego State, gets a punch-drunk Fresno State team at home to close out its 2011 regular season in the Western Athletic Conference.
The San Diego State Aztecs had an extraordinary year in 2010, finishing the season 9-4 after a 35-14 win in the Poinsettia Bowl again Navy. Now they will look to improve upon their success in 2011, but will face stiff competition in the WSC.
