NHL news: Sharks retain Marleau, Pavelski; Thrashers hire Craig Ramsay as head coach

Cross one more name off the list of prominent unrestricted free agents for the 2010 offseason. Patrick Marleau is staying with the San Jose Sharks. He signed a four year, $27.6-million deal that is deemed quite reasonable by anyone critiquing the trade, especially because of its relatively short term.

Carbonneau Unexpectedly Gets The Axe As Montreal Canadiens Head Coach

In what can be summed up as taking a huge risk, the Montreal Canadiens made a major shakeup on Monday when they fired head coach Guy Carbonneau with only 16 games to go and replacing him with current general manager Bob Gainey.
