Week 3 showed how dangerous the dreaded double-digit point spread can be, as I got burned by picking San Diego and Pittsburgh to cover huge numbers. I won’t make that same mistake this week.
We are nearly a month into the 2010-11 NFL season and Week 4 brings the first bye weeks of the year. Teams with a bye are Dallas, Kansas City, Minnesota, and Tampa Bay. It has been a season dotted with upsets and this week could be more of the same.
Here I look at the matchups, giving you some early insight that will help make your 2010 NFL wagers winners.
Three weeks into the 2010 season and there is only one 3-0 team in the NFC; Chicago and two in the AFC; Pittsburgh and Kansas City as parity is alive and well in the NFL. Seven teams already have a different starting quarterback then they did on opening day and half the teams in the league are averaging less than 20 points a game as consistent offensive production has been a rare commodity so far this year.
All this adds up to one of the strangest starts in years in the NFL.
Week 4 of the National Football league season features some great matchups, but none bigger than the showdown between the Brett Favre-led Minnesota Vikings and Favre’s old team, the Green Bay Packers, on Monday Night Football.
As if there isn’t already enough animosity between the NFC North rivals, Favre’s first game against the Packers is sure to result in fireworks Monday night at the Metrodome (8:35 pm ET, ESPN).
There are several intriguing match ups this week involving some of the best teams in the league. The Jets take their dominating defense to New Orleans to play the high flying Saints, Baltimore will try and prove they are the best team in the AFC when they take on the Patriots in Foxboro, and on Monday night, Brett Favre gets a shot at his old team when the Vikings host the Packers.
Week four is packed with some of the most exciting games of the first half. My pick for best game of the week is a three-way tie between the Jets at the Saints, Chargers at the Steelers and the Green Bay Packers at the Minnesota Vikings. Brett Favre had a big week four in 2008; throwing six touchdown passes against the Arizona Cardinals. Can he repeat this week against his former team?
