The NCAA Selection Committee has done its work. The 65 participants in the 2009 NCAA men’s basketball Tournament have been announced; here’s the rundown of the teams that are going into this year’s bracket and their first-round matchups.

While the second number is not official, Chamberlain’s 100 points in a game (on Mar. 2, 1962, for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks) remains the gold standard in the NBA.
We’re all agog over this week’s NFL Conference title games, and the Super Bowl after that. Which makes this a great time to get a jump on the basketball betting market. We kick off this weekend’s list of 10 stats and factoids with this hoops curiosity: The inventor of basketball, James Naismith, was also the only losing head coach in Kansas Jayhawks history. Naismith finished in 1907 with a record of 55-60.
The New York Knicks have had a surprising amount of success against the Cleveland Cavaliers in recent years.
While Knicks fans covered their faces in shame due to the franchises lack of success, backers have jumped on the success that New York has had against one of the Eastern Conference’s best teams and are riding an 8-3 record against the spread (ATS) in their last 11 against Cleveland.
