Rebels vs. Red Raiders Predictions – 2009 Cotton Bowl Betting

Cotton Bowl Mississippi Rebels vs Texas Tech Red Raiders

Why in the world did the Arkansas Razorbacks release Houston Nutt as coach? The man knows what he’s doing. In one season he’s turned the Ole Miss Rebels from one of the least respected teams in the SEC to one of the top four teams in the SEC. Ole Miss actually beat the Florida Gators this season. No other team can say that.

2009 Cotton Bowl

2009 Cotton Bowl Mississippi vs. Texas Tech Preview

The Mississippi Rebels won’t get as much press and public betting as their opponent in this year’s Cotton Bowl. But beware Ole Miss as they battle the Texas Tech Red Raiders January 2. While the Red Raiders were highly ranked and their offense highly feared, the Rebels were quietly beating Auburn, Arkansas, LSU and Florida. Not bad for a team sitting as a TD underdog.

Oddsmakers currently have the Red Raiders listed as 4-point favorites versus the Rebels, while the game’s total is sitting at 65½.

Cotton Bowl Breakdown – Ole Miss vs Texas Tech

The 2009 Cotton Bowl will be the last for the historic Cotton bowl which after this 73rd annual bowl will move to the new Texas Stadium. After being left out of the bcs picture they have to find new revenue streams thus moving to state of the art facility is mandated. This years game features another classic sec vs big 12 matchup. Texas Tech and Ole Miss are very different in styles and should create a hugely interesting matchup.

Oddsmakers also think this will be a very close game as Tech is only favored by four points.

NCAAF: BIG 12 BIAS IN COTTON BOWL

The Texas Tech Red Raiders out of the Big 12 are getting plenty of support from bettors as they face the Mississippi Rebels in Friday’s Cotton Bowl.

The Red Raiders are 4 ½-point favorites and 80% of bettors are backing them.

Texas Tech flirted with the #1 national ranking this season and its only blemish came at Oklahoma. Still, the Red Raiders are the annual team left outside of the BCS looking in, thanks to a crowded Big 12 South Division field.
