It doesn’t seem anything can slow the fifth-ranked Missouri Tigers, not even an injury to their quarterback. The Tigers continue to roll, now at 7-0, and look to get past the toughest part of their schedule on Saturday when they take on the 21st-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks.
The 11th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks are riding high coming off a blowout win over Arkansas. Now they get a Tennessee Volunteers team that is coming off a bye, but will surely still be feeling the sting of having lost out on a potential upset of Georgia in overtime their last time out.
The Georgia Bulldogs face a very early must-win game after dropping their opener to Clemson, and they can’t be happy seeing the South Carolina Gamecocks coming to town.
Things do not stack up well for South Carolina (9-12) in this home game, as they are facing a Kentucky (22-1) team that is ranked #1 in the nation, has already beaten them by 15 points this season, and on top of that the Gamecocks have lost 6 of their last 7 games.
South Carolina can achieve the most wins in their history with a win over Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl, but the Gamecocks have dropped 3 straight bowl games.
The Battle for the Palmetto State will be a spicy one this year, as both of the state’s FBS representative have fielded excellent squads.
The never-ending saga of Gamecocks quarterback Stephen Garcia finally came to (what should be) a decisive halt this week, as he was dismissed from the team.
To this point in the regular season, neither of these SEC combatants have been flawless, but South Carolina has been an SEC East division power while Kentucky has been an SEC East pretender.
