2015 MLB Team Previews – Dodgers
The L.A. Dodgers have all the pieces to be one of the league’s best teams and barring a slew of catastrophic injuries or misfortune this team should clean up in the NL West for a third straight season.

Game 3 of the National League Division Series sees the Los Angeles Dodgers taking on the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. Cappers Picks provides free baseball handicapping tips all season long.
The Dodgers are only 4-6 in their last 10 games and they now trail the San Francisco Giants by 5 games in the NL West. After getting back in the division race the D-Backs are now 10 games back of the Giants.
The Padres are assuredly out of the race and will be using the second half to season some youngsters and make some decisions for next year.
Personally, I think the Dodgers’ 36-46 record through June 30 is spot-on. This team has been overrated for a few seasons now. But the way in which L.A. is losing is a bit surprising.
MLB news: MLB may seize Dodgers
Is Major League Baseball about to seize control of the Los Angeles Dodgers? Reportedly, the league is considering filing a motion to grab control of the team, which has filed for bankruptcy.
Owner Frank McCourt claims that he filed for bankruptcy because the MLB rejected a massive television deal with Fox.
League commissioner Bud Selig maintains, however, that he rejected because McCourt had already put the club into financial trouble by siphoning more than $100 million in club revenue for personal use.
Josh Johnson to see Dr. Andrews;
Gulp. Florida Marlins ace Josh Johnson’s recovery from a right shoulder injury just took a turn for the worst. He’s in the midst of a throwing program but is “not feeling 100 per cent” and is off to see Dr. James Andrews. That means major surgery may be in Johnson’s future.
Thumb surgery for Choo
It appears Shin-Soo Choo’s frustrating 2011 season is at a merciful end. The Cleveland Indians outfielder had surgery yesterday to repair a broken left thumb and could be sidelined for two and a half months if not the rest of the season – especially if the Tribe fall out of the playoff race. MLB news: Brett Anderson shut down for six weeks
Brett Anderson may have avoided Tommy John surgery but the Oakland Athletic ace’s elbow injury will keep him out another eight weeks.
Dr. James Andrews told Anderson to rest the elbow for that long; he’ll also have a platelet-rich plasma injected into his elbow to expedite the healing process.
Johan Santana stops throwing program
It looks like New York Mets Johan Santana is in jeopardy of missing the entire 2011 season. He reportedly shut down his throwing program 10 days ago after experiencing soreness in his left (throwing) shoulder, which he had surgically repaired last September.
Dodgers owe many $8.33 million
The L.A. Dodgers’ messy financial situation just got worse. The team was already in limbo because of Frank and Jamie McCourt’s divorce; now, it appears the Dodgers owe Manny Ramirez $8.33 million by June 30. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Manny is due deferred compensation of $25 million over the next three years, left over from the $42-million deal he signed before the 2009 season.

The Milwaukee Brewers turned their September around by winning six of their last seven games but do they have anything left in the tank?
The National Football League heads north of the border on Thursday night to kick off the second week of its preseason schedule. Here’s your Daily Sports Roundup . . .
Event of the day . . .
The Buffalo Bills are starting to tap into the lucrative Toronto market this season, and it all begins with their exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Rogers Centre on Thursday night (with the kickoff set for 7:30pm ET). And Bills supporters hope that their team will be lucrative at the betting window once again this season.
Buffalo went 7-9 straight-up in 2007, but they were 10-6 against-the-spread. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, was 10-6 SU last year, and only 8-8 ATS. For Thursday night the Vegas oddsmakers have pegged this neutral-site game as a pick’em, despite Buffalo’s proximity to Toronto. The total for the game has been set at 33 points.
Steelers starting QB Ben Roethlisberger should see just limited time on Thursday, with newly-signed backup Byron Leftwich getting more snaps. Don’t expect to see much of RB Willie Parker either. Bills starting QB Trent Edwards will be looking to bounce back from a poor outing in Buffalo’s preseason opener against Washington.
With outfielder Adam Dunn now on the roster the Diamondbacks will be looking to pull away from the rival Dodgers in the NL West race. Here’s your Daily Sports Roundup . . .
Event of the day . . .
Dunn and the Diamondbacks will continue their series in Colorado against the Rockies on Wednesday night. Arizona countered the Dodgers’ acquisition of Manny Ramirez by dealing for the slugging Reds outfielder on Monday afternoon, in exchange for minor league pitcher Dallas Buck and a pair of players to be named later. Dunn has had trouble with his batting average this year, but he’s still able to blast home runs.
And Doug Davis (4-7, 4.75 ERA) will be looking to Dunn to provide him some offense on Wednesday night, as he takes the mound for Arizona. The lefthander has been terrible in each of his last two outings, giving up a combined 12 earned runs on 15 hits in just six innings of work. The Diamondbacks are 3-7 in Davis’ last 10 trips to the mound.
Jeff Francis (3-8, 5.81 ERA) hasn’t been any better, as the Rockies are 3-7 in his last 10 starts as well. The lefthander was knocked around in his return from the disabled list on August 7, giving up five earned runs on eight hits over 5 1-3 innings versus the light-hitting Nationals. Unless one or both of those starting pitchers show some progress on Wednesday night Dunn and the rest of the hitters could have a field day.
Non-event of the day . . .
Dunn’s old team remains mired in last place in the NL Central standings, and they’ll take on their closest cellar competitor on Wednesday. Cincinnati will send Josh Fogg (2-4, 7.98 ERA) to the mound in that contest, and he’ll be countered by Pittsburgh’s Paul Maholm (7-7, 3.76 ERA). Fogg might not last much longer in the Reds’ rotation, as the team is 0-3 in his last three outings (in which he allowed a healthy 16 runs).
Cole Hamels will be gunning for his 10th win of the year on Tuesday night when the Phillies continue their road series in Los Angeles. Here’s your Daily Sports Roundup …
Event of the day . . .
Philadelphia is still trying to hold off both the Mets and the Marlins in the tight NL East standings, while Los Angeles is looking to overtake the Diamondbacks in the race for top spot in the NL West. Those two clubs will play the second game of their west-coast series on Tuesday night, beginning at 10:10pm ET.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants
The Red Hot Dodgers take on the Giants Sunday!!! Billingsly take the mound for the Dodgers as they try to take over there division!! The Giants have just been realy bad this year. Matt Cain has pitched well, but when you get no run support it is hard to win games!! Thats why we take the Dodgers this afternoon!!
