The Indianapolis Colts surprised the NFL by compiling an 11-5 record a year ago, feasting on a soft schedule to do so. They’ll face one of the NFL’s easiest schedules again this year, getting things started in Week 1 with a matchup against an Oakland Raiders team that has had a dreadful preseason.
Now that the calendar has turned the page to July, it is time to start getting serious about ramping up your handicapping efforts for a new NFL season. The Packers (2-2) came up with a much needed win at home in this last game and to keep pace with the Bears (3-1) they need to beat the Colts (1-2).
The Houston Texans are the big favorite to win the AFC South and with good reason, as they have a legit QB while the Titans have a QB battle with Tim Hasselbeck and Jake Locker, the Jaguars have a 2nd year signal caller who struggled last season in Blaine Gabbert, and the Colts will be starting rookie Andrew Luck.
The Colts (2-13) have won 2 straight games, but many fans in Indy may bee rooting for the Jaguars in this game. The Colts are tied with the Rams for the worst record in the league and if the Rams lose to the 49ers and the Colt beat the Jags than St. Louis would end up with the first pick in the draft.
This AFC match up should have been a sweet one with a Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady battle, but with Manning out the winless Colts are HUGE underdogs heading to New England.
The Panthers (2-8) are coming off a tough loss where they gave up a big lead and ended up giving up 49 points.
It is not hard to believe that a game between Jacksonville and Indianapolis is creating a bit of a buzz. What is hard to believe is the fact that the buzz surrounds the possibility of the Colts getting their first win of the season in Week 10!

NFL news: Javarris James arrested for marijuana
Indianapolis Colts running back Javarris James was arrested Thursday night for marijuana possession. He was picked up in Fort Myers, Florida.
The charge is a misdemeanor. No word yet on how or if the team might discipline him.
Marvin Lewis expects Andy Dalton to start opener
Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis made a bolt statement on a radio station recently when he suggested that rookie Andy Dalton out of TCU will be the team’s Week-1 starter. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
“There’s no question when we selected Andy Dalton we selected him with that in mind he’d possibly be our opening-day starting quarterback,” Lewis said.
