Week 10 CFB: Tony George Big 12 Betting Tips

The Big 12 Report – Battle lines Drawn

Tony George

The Big 12 now has 5 ranked teams in the Top 25, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers crawled back into the driver’s seat last week with a beat down of the Mizzou Tigers in Lincoln, where Roy Hulu Jr. ran wild and set a single game rushing records for the Huskers, and that is saying something considering the past running backs at Nebraska.

The Big 12 Report – Horn Hunting in Lincoln

A KEY week in the Big 12 in terms of setting the stage for a season ending showdown, the last of it’s kind for the Nebraska Cornhuskers as they move to the Big 10 next year.  I honestly feel if NU can get over on Texas in Lincoln, they will end up seeing Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship.

The Big 12 Report – Red River Showdown

Tony George
Tony George

The Big 12 Powers struggled last week, specifically Nebraska who scraped by at home against South Dakota State, Oklahoma getting all they wanted from a tough Cincy team on the road, and Texas was beaten badly in all aspects of the game by UCLA, who really is not all that good.  Chalk it up to looking ahead for Texas and OU who square off in the Red River War this week at the state fair in Dallas in the Cotton Bowl, but Nebraska never got off the bus.

Tony George

Well it has been a hell of an off season for the Big 12, soon to be the Big 12 minus 2.  Rumors and speculation surrounded the Big 12 early in the Spring and came to a head with Colorado leaving for the PAC 10 and Nebraska bolting to the Big 10, to give them 12 teams and a conference championship game in 2012.

As the dominos continue to fall in the wake of Colorado leaving for the PAC 10, and Nebraska to the Big 10, both official moves now departing the Big 12, I have a dilemma. I have spent the better part of my career as a sports handicapper spending a great deal of time and effort learning and knowing the Big 12 conference, and its teams both in football and basketball.

October Big 12 Power Ratings

Tony George
Tony George

There has been enough football under our belt in this conference to weigh out my power ratings. I use these as overlays against the spread. Much like many novice cappers do with the Sargin ratings in USA Today against the Las Vegas Line. It is not broken down by division but is an overall ranking based on offense, defense, special teams, turnover ratios, and a few other intangibles.

The Big 12 Report – Texas Struggles – OU Soars

Tony George
Tony George

Last week we learned more about the Big 12, and as each season rolls along, teams develop chemistry, stories emerge, and sleeping giants awake while others fall by the wayside. OU nation took a deep breath as QB Bradfords replacement set a school record and tied a national record with 6 TDs. Landry Jones is a bright spot for the future for OU, only a redshirt freshman, Big 12 foes will be seeing him for the next 3 years after Bradford departure.

The Big 12 Report

Tony George
Tony George

My first Big 12 report of the season, and I look forward to posting weekly recaps and updates from my specialty conference. My first feature play of the season was last week, a Winner on Nebraska -22 who wiped the board with Arkansas State in Lincoln. Numerous teams struggled last week in the Big 12 conference. Missouri was down 20-6 late in the third quarter at home to lowly Bowling Green from the MAC before a wild fourth quarter where Mizzou finally ended up winning it in com from behind fashion.

The Big 12 North Season Preview

Tony George

The balance has shifted in the North from the old days of Nebraska and then everyone else, to the rise of Kansas State in late 90’s and then a myriad of teams rising and falling like Colorado.  The power the past few years has centered on the border war between Missouri and Kansas, both of whom were consistent in the top 10 the past couple of years, with Mizzou having huge expectations last year only to get embarrassed on more than 1 occasion in the national limelight.
