UFC 100: Jon “Bones” Jones vs. Jake O’Brien Preview

UFC Betting – Jon “Bones” Jones Should Roll At UFC 100

The water cooler is a buzz with all of the NFL betting odds and everyone is already up to their NFL betting picks and their selections on the Super Bowl odds, but we’ve got a mega event before then.

The UFC will be hosting a Super Bowl of its own and you can bet your money that Dana White will be looking to put on a show for the 100th anniversary of UFC events. We all know the big boys who will be fighting on the card – fighters like Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar, George St. Pierre, Thiago Alves, Dan Henderson, Michael Bisping – but one of the more underrated fighters on the UFC fight card will be Jon “Bones” Jones.

MLB odds – World Series Futures update

Would it be that shocking in the Belmont Stakes odds to see a long shot like Miner’s Escape leading the pack partway through race? After all, the Florida Marlins started the season 11-1, Rafael Nadal lost on clay and the Cleveland Cavaliers failed to reach the NBA Finals.

World Baseball Classic Predictions

Some WBC Betting Second-Round Predictions

March Madness odds are here! Woo hoo! I – oh, sorry, wrong blog. Just getting a bit ahead of myself, I suppose. I can’t help it, though – there are few events in online sports betting more exciting than March Madness betting. Maybe when (if?) The WBC odds are around long enough to develop cache, they’ll get people more pumped at the sportsbook.

Anyway, why not make a few picks for the next round of World Baseball Classic betting?

Instead of Pools, this round breaks down into two groups, with the top two teams from each group reaching the semifinal.

Group 1: Korea, Cuba, Japan, Mexico

Picks: Cuba, Japan

Forgive me for not respecting Korea in the WBC odds, but I just think it got a bit lucky in winning Pool A. Jung Bong, who has major-league experience, befuddled Japan in a 1-0 shutout. But Japan crushed them 14-2 in the first meeting, so the discrepancy in results looks like a fluke to me. I think Japan may have the best 1-2 pitching punch in the WBC odds in Dice-K and Yu Darvish, so I think it can join Cuba, who has looked as dominant as any team, in the semifinal.

Group 2: Puerto Rico, Venezuela, USA, the Netherlands (!)

Picks: Venezuela, USA

No Puerto Rico? Can you trust me at the sportsbook? I dunno, but I just have a feeling. Puerto Rico breezed through its pool, admittedly, and pounded the Cinderella Dutch twice. But I still think Venezuela matches up to them pretty evenly in talent, hitting-wise and pitching wise. More importantly, the Venezuelans are playing chips on their shoulders, mainly due to some weird political undertones that had Venezuelan fans booing Magglio Ordonez in round one. Puerto Rico hasn’t really been tested yet and could be overconfident, whereas Venezuela had to grind its way out of Pool C. The U.S. is a lock, since it’s the deepest team and has the home-field advantage for the rest of the WBC odds.

Happy WBC betting, folks!

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (-300) vs Keith Jardine (+240)

On paper, Keith Jardine is a tough matchup for Rampage in the UFC 96 odds . Jardine (14-5-1) is inconsistent but he fares well against counterpunchers, as he proved in the past with wins over Forrest Griffn and Chuck Liddell.

NHL Power Rankings: Marty doesn’t miss a beat

You know what they say, NHL betting fans: you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. So you can’t teach Martin Brodeur to, uh, not…stop…pucks. OK, it’s a bad analogy. But it’s Monday, so gimme a break.

2009 NHL Power Rankings – Feb 23rd

NHL Power Rankings: Sharks back atop the food chain

We’ve officially reached the NHL’s dog days of winter, though next week’s trade deadline will inject life back into the league. This time of year is dangerous for NHL betting fans, as even the best teams can lag (read: New York Islanders 4, New Jersey Devils 0).

Last week, the Sharks reasserted themselves, the Wings stood pat and the Devils went backward.

NHL Power Rankings: Devils partying like it’s 1995, 2000 and 2003

Well, hockey betting fans, the NHL trade deadline rapidly approaches, and that means the season is more than two thirds complete. Just as Pittsburgh did against UConn in a major March Madness rankings matchup, the Devils made a huge statement against the Sharks on the weekend.
