Well, we are almost finished with one quarter of the NBA sports betting season, and maybe it’s time to look at where we are in terms of championship contenders and who may have emerged to improve their standing over the last time we talked, which was on the eve of the season opener.
1. Lebron James (Cleveland Cavaliers)
Makes his team better? Check. Best stats in the league? Check. Playing on an elite team that is bound for the playoffs? Check. Keeping a team afloat with little to no help? Check.
The King has averaged 29.8 points per game and 7.3 assists while hauling down 8.0 boards in the process. Those are monstrous numbers, and as long as the Cavs stay in cruise control, the King will be crowned with his first MVP award.
The fields for the MVP and rookie of the year awards are starting to get very crowded. Why? Because the stand-outs aren’t on what many would consider unbelievable teams. The rookie of the year is okay for that. But the MVP award usually goes to a person on a team that has separated itself from the rest of the NFL.
The college basketball season is slowly but surely get underway. It will be a while before people start paying a lot of attention, but it’s never too soon to start making some college basketball predictions. College basketball culminates in the single best spectacle in sports, but there is a lot of excitement and intrigue between now and the madness of March. The Los Angeles Clippers (23-59 SU, 33-49 ATS, 35-47 O/U), can change the names on the back of their uniforms all they want – this is clearly a franchise that is clueless when it comes to building a team for sustained success.
The Golden State Warriors (48-34 SU, 34-48 ATS, 45-35-2 O/U) recorded a solid 48-34 record despite missing out on the postseason because of the stellar records of several of their Western Conference rivals.
