NCAAF Week 6 Free Picks

The fourth week of the college football season brings the biggest conference games to date. Sportsbook.com brings you some Week 6 CFB free picks.

NCAAF: QUICK HITS

It didn’t happen at all last year, but last week Cras went a dismal 0-4 during what should be called Upset Week in college football.

Michigan’s surprising comeback win over Wisconsin was just one of the four losses that cost Cras, and after a strong 2007, he’s looking to get back to winning in 2008.

Here is how he’s thinking this week.

#23 Connecticut Huskies @ North Carolina Tar Heels

North Carolina won over the Miami Hurricanes on a last-minute touchdown pass this week, covering as an underdog. The Tar Heels are now 2-1 against the spread (ATS) with both wins coming on the road. In their last home game, they lost 20-17 to Virginia Tech as 3 ½-point favorites and now they are seven-point faves against a ranked UConn team.

The fact that the #23 ranked Huskies are getting seven points shows that oddsmakers aren’t really impressed with them so far this season. UConn’s wins have come against Hofstra, Temple, Virginia, Baylor and Louisville; all struggling programs. That said, they’ve been winning the games they are supposed to and I like the points in this game.

Pick: UConn +7

#1 Oklahoma Sooners @ Baylor Bears

Oklahoma has dominated the competition this season and have the inside track at the national title game so long as they keep winning. The Sooners are a perfect 3-0 ATS as they’ve beaten opponents by an average of just under 37 points.

That doesn’t bode well for a Baylor team that is 2-2 straight up and 2-1 ATS after covering in its last two games. The fact that Oklahoma dominated Baylor in a 52-21 win last year doesn’t help. How could you not take the Sooners in this game?

Pick: Oklahoma -24.5

#3 Missouri Tigers @ Nebraska Cornhuskers

Chase Daniel and Missouri routed Nebraska 41-6 last year and have been installed as 10 ½-point favorites for this game. The Tigers have had little trouble this season, going 4-0 straight up and 2-1 ATS. Their only ATS loss was two weeks ago against Buffalo, as they won 42-21 as 35 ½-point favorites.

Nebraska is 3-1 straight up, losing 35-30 to Virginia Tech last week as seven-point favorites. That was the first real test for a Nebraska team that opened with victories over Western Michigan, San Jose State and New Mexico State.

With an extra week to prepare, the Tigers win big.

Pick: Missouri -10

#14 Auburn Tigers @ #19 Vanderbilt Commodores

The Auburn Tigers have had trouble with spreads this season, covering just one of their five games so far as the offense has let this team down with fumbles and inconsistent play. Now they play a Vanderbilt team that is confident but the Tigers have dominated this series, winning the last 10 meetings while covering seven of those times.

The Commodores enter with a perfect 4-0 record, both straight up and ATS, but also as four-point underdogs. That role hasn’t fazed Vanderbilt this year though, as they’ve won three games as underdogs. Despite that, I like the Tigers to continue their series domination.

Pick: Auburn -4
