NHL news: Canucks will start Robert Luongo in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals
We’ve seen this movie many times already in the 2011 playoffs, haven’t we? Once again, Vancouver Canucks goaltender Robert Luongo is fresh off a game in which he got pulled.
Once again, many Vancouver fans are calling for Vancouver to start Corey Schneider for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup final against Boston.
Even though Vancouver did give Luongo a game off after he struggled in round one against Chicago, head coach Alain Vigneault insists that Luongo will start on Friday.
“Robert is the guy,” Vigneault said. “He’s my guy and he’s playing. It’s that simple.”
Leafs extend James Reimer
In other hockey news it doesn’t look like the Toronto Maple Leafs will hunt for a new goaltender this offseason after all. They signed breakout start puckstopper James Reimer to a three-year, $5.4-million contract extension on Thursday.
He was 20-10-5 with a 2.60 goals against average and .921 save percentage in his rookie year. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

You can’t start a rookie goalie in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals…the right move is Roberto, no matter which Luongo you get….UGH
