NFL news: Former Bengals running back shot dead
Former Cincinnati Bengals running back David “Deacon” Turner was fatally shot by a police officer Sunday after an incident at a convenience store.
Jones allegedly struck one officer in the head with a bag containing two 24-ounce cans of beer, which prompted a deputy to fire two shots at Turner. 
He fell to the ground as was pronounced dead at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California two days later.
Hines Ward failed sobriety test
Was Hines Ward’s agent wrong about him “not being impaired” by alcohol during his arrest last week?
In a report issued yesterday, police said Ward had bloodshot red eyes and failed multiple sobriety tests.
Ward reportedly couldn’t keep his balance, mixed up the alphabet and emitted a “strong odor of an alcoholic” beverage.
Lockout resolution by July 21?
According to ESPN, there is a “growing belief inside league circles” that the NFL and NFLPA will have a deal in place in time for ratification at the July 21 league meetings.
Sources “familiar with the talks” believe an agreement in principle could be reached during the next seven to 10 days. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
