NFL news: New salary cap to be $120 million
As the NFL and NFLPA inch toward finalizing a new collective bargaining agreement in the next few days.
Reports suggest the new salary cap will be between $120 million and $123 million.
That figure doesn’t include player benefits, which could exceed $21 million per team.
Teams will also have a cap floor to prevent them from filling out rosters with minimum-wage earners to boost their revenue.
James Harrison apologizes for rant
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison has backtracked on his epic Men’s Journal rant, which included criticizing his teammates and calling commissioner Roger Goodell a bunch of names, including a gay slur.
He apologized for “some of the words that I said during the four days in May that Men’s Journal was invited to my house to discuss what the NFL has recently been portraying as their attempts at ‘player safety’ rules and regulations, and to cover my everyday workout routine” Harrison said.
“I also need to make clear that the comment about Roger Goodell was not intended to be derogatory against gay people in any way,” Harrison added.
I am not a homophobic bigot, and I would never advocate intolerance of gay people.”
