The #8 Utes and #10 Wildcats continue their PAC-12 rivalry, that has been dominated by the Wildcats. Arizona has won 31 consecutive games at home and 10 straight against Utah heading into their matchup on Saturday.

Utah will look to knock off Arizona for the first time since 1998 when they meet in Tucson on Saturday.

Utah

Winners of 7 in a row, the #8 Utah Utes look to continue their undefeated record in conference play when they head into Tucson on Saturday. Utah has started Pac-12 play with a 4-0 record, including victories over UCLA and Colorado. The Utes only losses of the season have come against quality opponents. Utah fell to #16 San Diego State and #10 Kansas.

Utah has had no problem thus far handling conference play. Winning their first 4 games by an average of 24.5 points a game, Utah will look to put an end to their horrible losing streak against Arizona, while taking control of the Pac-12.

Leading the way for Utah is their duo of 7 footers, Jakob Poeltl and Dallin Bachynski. Poeltl is averaging 9.3 points to go along with 8.2 rebounds a game. Poeltl has yet to proven he can be a go to guy as far as scoring is concerned as he’s scoring in single digits in a majority of Utah’s games.

Bachynski is in the same boar as Poeltl. Averaging just 4.0 points and 2.6 rebounds a game, the 7 foot Senior hasn’t shown the dominance and aggressiveness to take over a game. The Utes are hoping the two can become dominant forces down low as conference play goes on.

On the road this season in true road games, Utah is 4-0-1 ATS.

Arizona

After stumbling on the road to unranked Oregon State, the Wildcats got back on track in their 68-54 victory over Colorado. The Wildcats overlooked the Beavers and ultimately stumbled late to hit any shots in the loss. Perhaps taking a bit of anger out on the Buffalos, Arizona dominated Colorado in almost every aspect of the game in their victory.

Looking to their big matchup with Utah, the Wildcats will need their two younger scorers to step up and lead the way.

Freshman F Stanley Johnson leads the Wildcats in scoring this year with 14.4 points a game. Johnson rebounded from a poor 7 point performance against Oregon State with a 22 point outburst against Colorado.

Sophomore F Rondae Hollis-Jefferson typically is a major contributor along with Johnson on a nightly basis. Hollis-Jefferson is scoring 11.1 points per game, but will look to avenge his disappointing 0-3 performance against Colorado.

If the Wildcats can get contributions from their two young stars, along with their upperclassmen, the Utes could be in for a long day.

NCAA Basketball Trends:

  • Utes are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
  • Utes are 21-6 ATS in their last 27 Saturday games.
  • Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
  • Wildcats are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.

Free 4* NCAA Basketball Pick: Arizona -4

Utah has been quite impressive this season, but have failed to take out the tougher opponents this season. Coup that with Arizona’s dominance of the Utes and this spells like an Arizona victory.

Arizona 70, Utah 60

Lay the points with the home team in this top 10 matchup.
