The Oakland A’s embark on a seven-game road trip, looking for just their second win in their last 11 games, when the open a three-game series at Houston on Monday night.

The Athletics (13-26) have struggled all season and arrive in Houston, losers of four straight, including a 7-3 Sunday loss as the White Sox claimed their first series sweep in Oakland in 18 years.

Max Muncy was the lone bright spot for the A’s, hitting his first major league home run, while Oakland’s defense committed four errors

Oakland has committed at least one error in each of its past 14 games, now brining its total to a league-leading 42. Those errors have led to 29 unearned runs — the most in the majors.

Meanwhile, the Astros (25-13) have gone 7-4 in their last 11, wining five in a row after Sunday’s 4-2 win over Toronto, which also boosted their record to 13-9 at Minute Maid Park.

Luis Valbuena and Colby Rasmus each homered, while pitcher Collin McHugh (5-1) allowed two runs and six hits while striking out nine.

Houston will look to keep its streak alive by sending rookie pitcher Lance McCullers to the mound in his MLB debut on Monday.

The right-hander was promoted to Triple-A Fresno Thursday from Double-A Corpus Christi, but he did not pitch a game for Fresno.

Oakland will counter with Drew Pomeranz, who was very strong Tuesday night against the Red Sox, allowing only four hits and two runs over seven innings.

The lefty was able to rebound nicely after five outings in which he allowed at least three runs and did not make it past 5.1 innings.

He seems to have regained his control after walking five against Minnesota, issuing no free passes versus Boston.

However, he is 0-2 with a 6.05 ERA in five appearances against Houston.

Matt’s Free 4* Prediction

Houston — The Astros have been playing well and the A’s, well, they are just about as bad as it gets. I am going with the home team here, even with their rookie pitcher toeing the rubber.
