In the fourth Group A game of the tournament, former champions and 2006 finalists France take on a battle readied El Tri. Despite, Mexico’s draw with South Africa in game one, the side is in excellent form and poised for an for an upset over the group favorites France. Le Blues did not do well in qualifying, whereas

Mexico have shown some great moments, including in their friendly against England, where many felt they deserved more than they got.

Despite South Africa having the home advantage, they are the rank outsiders in the group and so the odds favor Uruguay.

The French started the competition with a 0-0 draw against Uruguay, reminiscent of how Domenech’s side also started their 2006 campaign. Injuries are plaguing the team; William Gallas failed to complete training on Monday with a calf injury and third string goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso has a problem with his right thigh and skipped practice.

Aside from an early chance when Sidney Govou missed from close range, France played weakly and key players were disappointing. Anelka struggled up front, dropping deep and even getting in Govou’s way when Abou Diaby finally opened up the Uruguay defense. Franck Ribery looked isolated in midfield and did little to justify his reputation as one of the world’s best playmakers.

They need to pull things together as a win against Mexico is a must.

A Marquez strike cancelled out a fantastic goal from Siphiwe Tshabalala to earn Mexico a 1-1 draw with South Africa in the opening game of the World Cup on Friday.

As coach Javier Aguirre promised, the Mexicans attacked with everything they had from the kickoff. They should have scored within the first two minutes when goalkeeper Khune fumbled a low cross – but even with an easy shot, Giovani Dos Santos was blocked by South Africa captain Aaron Mokoena.

When Carlos Vela put the ball in the net, it was called offside. Mexico finally tied it when Andres Guardado floated in from the left and Marquez was left completely free to control the ball and score from close range.

The aggressiveness needs to be more articulated and show results for Mexico to win.

France vs. Mexico Free Pick

A win for Mexico is a reasonably good bet. I think it is entirely possible for a below par France to slip up here, as El Tri sneak in a winning goal for a 1-0 win.
