This Group E playoff for a place in the knockout rounds of the 2010 Football World Cup will feature the first ever meeting between Denmark and Japan.

The only previous encounter between Denmark and Japan was a 3-2 win for Denmark in 1971. With Netherlands already through and Cameroon eliminated, both teams are on three points and the winner will clinch its place into the knockout phase.

With Japan having a better goal difference than the Danes, a draw would be enough for them to secure qualification World Cup Betting

Denmark’s Morten Olsen was critical of his teams plays, despite a 2-1 come from behind victory over Cameroon 2-1 on Saturday.

They did grab all three points against their Group E rivals but the team was prone to mental mistakes on even simple plays, such as Christian Poulsen who allowed Samuel Eto’s opening goal.

The errors piled on throughout the game, but Cameroon was unable to take advantage and became the first nation to be eliminated from World Cup 2010. Denmark needed a win to stay in the race to qualify after losing their group opener.

The Danes will be without Simon Kjaer who is suspended for the game after picking up two yellows.

Denmark will have to go in with a very attack minded line-up and try to get out in from early on.

Japan was high on hopes after a 1-0 victory over Cameroon, but fell back to earth after a 1-0 defeat to the Netherlands at the World Cup. Wesley Sneijder scored the winner in the second half for the highly rated Dutch In what was a close fought match.

Afterwards Japan coach Takeshi Okada stated that the Dutch were not as strong as expected and voiced concern that tactics the team would use had been leaked, giving the opposition an advantage.

Moving forward, he has sworn the team to a vow of silence to keep its competitive edge. Since it lacks a quick forward, the team will continue to rely on its strategies and key use of all players while maintaining its defense.

Shunsuke Nakamura and Junichi Inamoto – Japan’s stars of previous years have not started a game at this World Cup. It would be interesting to see if they are called back into the starting eleven for this crucial tie.

Neither of these teams has been in the best form ahead of the World Cup and this is anyone’s game, based on the poor Japanese strike rate and weak defense.

You’d have to give it to Denmark with one goal being the difference.
