ESPN, ESPND – MLS Betting Odds – Wizards vs. DC:

DC United +110
Kansas City Wizards +240
Draw: +240

A struggling DC United are still searching for their first win of the season as they host the Kansas City Wizards for their final season meeting on Wednesday at RFK Stadium.
The teams last met on Mar 27 with Kansas City crushing D.C. 4-0.

United holds a 17-13-9 edge in all-time regular season match-ups against the Wizards, while Kansas City has dropped four of its last five visits to the nation’s capital, the most recent being a 1-0 defeat back in Sept 2009.

KC has scored one goal since that win. A 1-0 victory back on April 10 in their home opener against the Colorado Rapids on a lone goal from Kei Kamara in the 48th minute. After that it’s been bone dry for the Wiz offensively this year. Their total of five goals is only better than D.C.’s league-worst two. Kansas City is coming off its biggest defeat of the season,3-0 at Houston on Saturday in a match were they had just five total shots at goal- two on net.

Forward Josh Wolff is searching for his first goal of 2010 after leading the Wizards with a career-high 11 in 2009. Playing mostly on the right wing, he’s managed two shots on goal this far into the season. .

United are off to their worst season start ever and has set a team record losing streak of five consecutive defeats. The streak continued with a 2-0 home loss to the Eastern Conference leading New York Red Bulls on Saturday as D.C. was shut out an MLS-high fourth time. United have netted just two goals in 450 minutes and have been held scoreless in 180.

They will start Luciano Emilio, who rejoined United last Wednesday after a stint with Rio Branco in his native Brazil, in an effort to boost their offensive attack.

The 31-year old veteran forward netted 20 goals in 2007 earning him league MVP honors, but he has fallen from grace with just 21 over the last two.

Kansas City has lost both of the their road matches this season and it doesn’t appear that it is going to be getting any easier as they will be without midfielder Davy Arnaud, suspended after being issued a red card for a late challenge on Dynamo goalkeeper Pat Onstad.

Arnaud scored his lone goal this season in the first meeting with United.

I think that ESPN could have picked a more exciting game of the week, but who would of predicted the meltdown of United this early on along with KC’s in ability to find the back of the net.

I expect the Wiz to edge out a slim 1-0 victory in this one, snapping their scoreless streak.
