Wolverhampton will be beaming with confidence after ending Manchester United’s 24-match Barclay’s Premier League unbeaten run this season, as the Wolves claimed a surprising 2-1 win at Molineux.

Now they hope to ride that momentum into Saturday’s match at Emirates when they take on Arsenal who is just four points behind top table United after being the victim of a great comeback, drawing with Newcastle United in their last league match.

The Wolves will need to try to forget their 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture at Molineux, in a game that they were truly upstaged by Gunners’ keeper Lukasz Fabianski, as well as Marouane Chamakh’s finishing.

McCarthy’s men have enjoyed a great deal of success this season beating some of the EPLs better clubs, with wins over Chelsea, Liverpool and both Manchester teams. However, only one of those wins was away from Molineux and was at Anfield when Liverpool was at their worst. They have managed to snag just four points from 12 away from home, tallying a league worst nine goals while failing to string together any back-to-back wins.

That’s still no reason for Arsene Wenger’s side to take the Wolves lightly who would love nothing more than to take down another big top-flight team this weekend. Wenger will look forward to this match as an opportunity to get his squad back on the rails as well as answering some questions following last weekend’s draw with Newcastle. The Gunners raced to a 4-0 lead within the opening 26 minutes at St James’ Park on goals from Theo Walcott, Johan Djourou and a Robin van Persie double, before it all fell apart in the second half after Arensal’s Abou Diaby was sent off for pushing Joey Barton to the ground after an aggressive challenge.  That opened an opportunity, as Newcastle roared back with four goals of its own to end the game in a draw.

Van Persie’s brace last week brought his total to eight in his last seven games. Chamakh may not start, but having scored both goals in the first meeting of these sides, he could see time on the pitch if the Wolves fall behind by more than a single goal.

There will be some concerns for Wegner with Samir Nasri still out and Diaby now suspended. However, he does have a plethora of players he can turn to as suitable replacements, and if the Gunners start as quickly as they did against Newcastle, then they could rack up more than their share of goals.

As impressive as the Wolves win over United was, it was a lot of good luck. Wolverhampton has an awful road record and will face an Arsenal side that will be frothing to prove they are better than last week’s meltdown at Newcastle. I expect a win for the Gunners as they keep pace for the title, reducing the gap at the top of the table, as United will be busy playing derby this weekend.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Arsenal 3, Wolverhampton 1
