Both sides have performed beyond expectations since being promoted to the top flight, but while Blackpool has faded  in recent weeks, in-form West Brom is undefeated in its last six Premier League games, including a win over top table Arsenal.

Meanwhile, the Seasiders have lost four of its last five with the exception of a 2-1 shocker at Liverpool. They have also yet to register a victory at home this season.

To make matters worse, captain Charlie Adam has been added to the barrage of injuries Blackpool has been hit with, including Alex Baptiste Louis Almond, and Billy Clarke.

The 24-year-old talisman required stitches in his ankle after picking up an injury in a tackle with Nikola Zigic in last weekend’s defeat to Birmingham City.

The Baggies head coach Roberto Di Matteo will also have a handful of key injuries to contend with starting with striker Peter Odemwingie who continues to be out with a knee injury, as well as defender Jonas Olsson, and striker Marc-Antoine Fortune.

Odemwingie leads the team in goals, with three.

A 2-1 victory against Fulham last weekend saw the Baggies climb to sixth in the table. Fulham got out in front early but WBA were soon level through Youssouf Mulumbu before Fortune’s goal turned things around in the 40th minute.

Di Matteo made 11 changes for Tuesday’s Carling Cup tie at Leicester as the Baggies’ back-ups cruised to a 4-1 win.

As for Blackpool, they are currently sitting 14th on the table, four spots above the drop zone after losing 2-0 to Birmingham City at a rain soaked St Andrews. Zigic struck for the second time in two matches to seal the win as Adam’s error gifted the Blues their second goal of the match.

Both of last season’s Championship meetings between these sides finished 3-2 to Albion, with Graham Dorrans scoring the winner from the penalty spot. Now the they will meet in the top division for the first time since the 1970-71 season, when Albion won both games 3-1.

Albion won on three of their last four Barclay’s Premier League visits to Bloomfield Road.

Goalkeeping could play a huge role in the outcome of this meeting, and Blackpool’s Matthew Gilks has made more saves (72) than any other top-flight net minder. His GAA of 2.33 is good considering the Baggies defense have allowed 130 shots (on and off target) this season, more than any other side.

Matt’s Free Prediction: West Brom has won none of their 10 Premier League games on a Monday but I expect that change with a 3-1 at Bloomfield Road.
