The biggest question surrounding this match is whether Manchester boss Roberto Mancini will recall leading scorer Carlos Tevez who is available after suspension, or opt to honor the strikers request for leave by calling up Emmanuel Adebayor, if the striker recovers from injury.

It will be a tough decision for Mancini who will celebrate his first year in charge on the day of the game, and will already be without Dutch midfielder Nigel De Jong, who starts a one-match ban after being booked for the fifth time this season at West Ham last weekend.

Mancini and Tevez have had their differences and will need to put their grievances aside as the club attempts to extend its eight-match unbeaten run that has them tied for second with Arsenal, and just two points behind table leading Manchester United. Last weekend’s victory at West Ham was their fourth win in five games and they have lost only once at Eastlands this season.

The situation regarding Tevez’s request to return home threatens to derail everything the Blues have worked for, as the Argentinean scoring machine –Tevez has scored 31 goals in his last 38 Premier League appearances — has made no secret of his desire to quit Eastlands.

While Tevez’s presence on the pitch could boost City’s chances on Monday, his absence could be an early Christmas gift for an Everton side that has gone seven games without a win and have tasted success in only one of their eight fixtures on the road this season, drawing five.

The good news for the Toffees however, is that leading scorer, Tim Cahill is fit and in good form having scored in two of Everton’s last four games. The Aussie midfielder will attempt to guide his side to its sixth win over City in its last seven League games, including a 2-0 victory at Eastlands last season. The Citizens have failed to score in those five defeats.

Everton has suffered its own scoring drought, having drawn against Chelsea 1-1 and Wigan 0-0 in its last two matches.

It may get worse as they will also be without second leading scorer Mikael Arteta who remains unavailable as he completes a three-match ban after being sent off against West Brom last month.

Their current skid has dropped them to 15th on the table and just two points above the relegation zone.

The Toffees have been terrible for the majority of the season so far, considering how they finished last season, and I’m pretty sure they’ll lose this one. They have struggled to score goals and it won’t be easy to improve that against a City side that has a good defense and possess better attacking players.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Manchester City 2, Everton 0
