The Rover’s final home match last season was 2-1 win over Arsenal, while the Gunners also posted a victory in their last game at Ewood Park, against Everton. Now the two sides will face off in Week 2 off in an English Premier League fixture hunting for their second win of the young season.

The Gunners have look to be in good form as the head to Bloomfield Road fresh off a 6-0 thrashing of newly appointed top-flight side Blackpool. Forward Theo netted a hat trick against the Seasiders, and will be riding a wave of momentum into Saturday’s match up with Blackburn.

Meanwhile, the Rovers will hope to recover from defeat at Birmingham City last weekend, and return to their own brand of good form and some extra confidence going into the match from the side’s good results against Everton who they beat at home on the opening day. The side lost only three times in the league last season in front of their own supporters.

More good news for Blackburn is the possibility of crafty midfielder David Dunn, who returned to training this week after suffering a groin injury during the opening day victory over Everton, may be fit to return to action in time for this weekend’s match up. Dunn was the Rovers top-scorer last season. Also expected to return to play after losing a tooth in the Carling Cup win over Norwich, which left him in some distress, is Gael Givet, but Keith Andrews sidelined with a groin injury.

Arsenal will get midfielder Denilson back after suffering an abdominal injury, while centre-half Laurent Koscielny is available again following a one-match ban. However, new signing Sebastien Squillaci is unlikely to make his debut for Arsenal as he is lacking match fitness after missing Sevilla’s Champions League play-off with Braga last week. Samir Nasri, Nicklas Bendtner and Aaron Ramsey all remain sidelined.

There have been 19 goals scored in the last four league games between these two clubs so it would be safe to say that this will be a high scoring match as far as soccer scores.

A lot will depend on Blackburn’s ability to score on set pieces, as 59 percent of the goals they scored in 2009-10 came from set pieces, the highest ratio in the Premier League. Arsenal will want to watch the fouls and make sure they limit dangerous corner kicks.

Prediction: The Gunners have scored seven goals so far this season, but that’s three fewer than they had after two games last year. Despite the Rovers home success this will no doubt be a tougher task, but Arsenal will leave it all on the pitch with 4-2 road victory.
