Germany was among the favourites coming into the event that now they are being installed as “the” favourite for this final against Argentina – which is hard to argue with if you watched both of those semi-final matchups.
The history between these two nations at this stage is well documented even if few players were even alive when these two soccer power clashed in 1986 and 1990.
The big win has turned a game that was likely going to be a coin flip situation into one where there is a significant favourite.

There is no doubting that the Germans have the talent to win the World Cup but this group has fallen short before and you don’t want to get too enamored with them after their out of this world performance against Brazil.

Argentina
The match between Argentina and Holland was obviously close but nobody was saying that it was quality soccer.
Winning in penalty kicks is somewhat lucky but there is still no doubt that this Argentina quad deserves a spot in the final, I believe the they were considered the third favourite coming in and I always thought they would square off with Brazil, assuring a South American winner on the continent either way.
Hopefully this game won’t be as dull as their semi.
It is amazing watching Argentina and how everything seems to go on pause when Lionel Messi has control of the ball. Suffice it to say they are going to need him to be great, despite lots of attention if they are going to beat Germany on Sunday.
The most important thing is probably getting out to an early lead to prevent Germany from putting the clamps on things too early.
I like to think I am contrarian at heart but I have to agree with the sentiment that the price on Germany just doesn’t make much sense. If you will recall I had Argentina as my champ before this whole thing began and I am not going to abandon ship now.
Actually I am rather pleased that the payoff is there after falling in the semis when they couldn’t take out the Dutch during regulation.
