Manager Harry Redknapp led his side to a season to remember, wrapping up the 2009 campaign with a fourth place finish in the Premier League, a semi-finals FA Cup appearance, a League Cup quarterfinals bid, and their first Champions League spot in club history.

Forever regarded as perennial underachievers, the Spurs played marvelously and made giant leaps in becoming a true contender to win a future Premier League title by finally fulfilling their potential, thanks to Redknapp’s perceptive guidance.

All throughout the year the Spurs were able to score loads of goals, beating top seeded sides like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City. Forward Jermaine Defoe netted 18 of Tottenham’s 67 EPL goals.

The quick-thinking striker is pacy, instinctive, and self-assured. Many have accused him of not being able to play a bigger part in holding the ball up and being too selfish in possession. Those critics have been silenced after last year’s stellar performance. Bet on Soccer at Sportsbook.com

Now Defoe along with Peter Crouch, Wilson Palacios, Gareth Bale, Michael Dawson and Luka Modric, – whose recent American friendly resulted in a hamstring injury– will need to yield another great year If they want to repeat last season’s heroic efforts.

There won’t be much in the way of new blood for the Spurs as the only acquisition made during the transfer market was Brazilian midfielder, Sandro. The 21-year-old made 73 appearances for Internacional in his home country and helped them to finish second in the Brazilian championship last season.

The Spurs did make a failed attempt to obtain West Ham midfielder Scott Parker. The proposal would have taken him just across London to White Hart Lane, but West Ham United refused to counter the deal.

It’s too bad as Parker would have fit nicely into Redknap’s favored 4-4-2 formation that likes to get behind the ball then counter attack with speed.

Tottenham will have a loaded schedule in the first several months of the 2010 Premier League season, playing in the UEFA Champions League or the Europa League should they fail to qualify.

This of course brings up questions of how it will affect their performance early on in the Premiere League season. With a heavy focus on the side’s success in the Champions League, it could cause them to get off to a poor start in their campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur 2010 Prediction: Tottenham will have a tough challenge not only with the Champions League this year, but also in the Premiere League, as rival Manchester City are widely expected by their minions to qualify for the Champions League this season.

The only thing standing in their way is the Hotspur, who I expect will concede the final transfer spot, finishing in the top six.
