The Chiefs became the fourth winless team this year to knock off the Washington Redskins last week. Kansas City will now focus on winning at home for the first time this season. The Chiefs continue to struggle offensively but were able to win last week without scoring a touchdown.

After losing to Denver, the Chargers will now need a small miracle to repeat as champs in the AFC West. The Chargers better put that loss behind them or the entire season could be lost. The Chargers have lost two straight overall.
To beat Kansas City, the Chargers will certainly have to play better defensively. Injuries have really hurt this unit and Shawne Merriman, who has been healthy enough to play, has been a complete nonfactor all season long.
Offensively, the Chargers should have success as Philip Rivers continues to play at an elite level. The Chargers have been able to average almost 25 points per game on offense and should be able to score points against an average Chiefs defense.
NFL Handicapping: What The Chiefs Have To Do To Win
The good news for the Chiefs as they finally saw something positive out of Larry Johnson, who is coming off a game where he rushed for a season-high 83 yards. He will be counted on heavily as the Chargers have really struggled against the run.
The Chiefs will be motivated to knock off the three-time defending AFC West champions. Matt Cassel has not lived up to the huge contract but has taken good care of the football only throwing two interceptions so far this season. Against a struggling defense, Cassel should have some opportunities to make big plays to Dwayne Bowe down field.
NFL Handicapping: Outlook & Pick
Last year the Chiefs played San Diego very tough, losing twice in heart breaking fashion by just one point in both games. The Chargers have only managed to cover one spread all year and it is too risky to lay points with them on the road based on how poorly they are playing.
The Chiefs have covered in three of their last four games against San Diego and this should be another tight game between two division rivals. The Chargers problems will not be fixed in the short week and the Chiefs have a real opportunity to record consecutive victories.
