Vikings vs. Saints MNF Week 5

Point spread for the week 5 Monday night football clash between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints plus the betting spreads, and betting trends for nfl football gambling.

NFL Monday: “Saints Could be Online Bet of the Week”

The New Orleans Saints host the Minnesota Vikings in a game with two teams going in opposite directions. The New Orleans Saints appear to be turning things around after losing their second and third games of the season. They were dominant in their victory over the San Francisco 49’ers in week four of the NFL season, destroying the BetUS online NFL betting spread of 3½ points. They beat the 49’ers 31 to 17 in that one. Even though the Saints are 2 and 2 straight up they are also 3 and 1 versus the BetUS online wagering spread in their four games this season.

The Minnesota Vikings on the other hand have been incredibly disappointing this season. Yes, they were one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl out of the NFC this year, their online wagering odds to win the Super Bowl actually dropped all the way to 14 to 1, but look at what they’ve done for themselves this year? They are 1 and 3 straight-up and 1 and 3 versus the BetUS online betting spread.

Let’s get to the significant match-ups regarding this Monday night slug fest!

Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints

Online Wagering Spread: Saints – 3 ½
Online Betting Odds Straight-Up: Vikings + 135
BetUS Over/Under Online Wagering Odds: 46 ½ points

Minnesota Vikings offense vs. New Orleans Saints defense – – The Saints D is giving up a lot of yards and a lot of points but, alas, it has all been through the air. The Saints are very tough against the run with Jonathan Vilma in the middle and Scott Fujita at the strong side. Strong safety Roman Harper is one of the best at run support as is free safety Ken Kaesviharn and cornerback Mike McKenzie.

The Vikings will give the ball to Adrian Peterson about thirty to forty times in this game. They should because they have nobody that can pass the ball down field. The Saints, though, will play man-to-man for most of this game. That means that the Vikings will have chances to put up points. I just don’t think they will be able to put up enough. Because of the Vikings’ offense, I sort of have to go with the BetUS under at 46 ½ points in this game. That’s one online wager that I feel comfortable placing.

Minnesota Vikings defense vs. New Orleans Saints offense – – The Saints will be without tight end Jeremy Shockey and superstar wide receiver Marquest Colston. No worries. They have plenty of weapons for Drew Brees with Lance Moore, Robert Meacham, Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister all able to catch the ball and run with it. The Saints are easily one of the top offenses in the NFL. The problem that the Vikings will have is deciding how to defend against McAllister. If they don’t bring up a strong safety, then McAllister could easily run right over their linebackers. If they do bring up their strong safety, then Drew Brees could swing the ball to Reggie Bush and get him in space while Moore, tight end Mark Campbell and Meacham work the middle of the field. Play man-to-man and Brees will burn you. Play Cover 2 and Bush and McAllister run all over you.

Beceause of that, I sort of see the odds as a gift. The Vikings could keep this game close but the Saints should jump on them early. If the Saints run out to a 17 to 3 or 6 lead, then the Vikings will have no choice but to stop handing the ball off to Peterson and to try and beat the Saints through the air.

NFL Week 5: Monday Night Football Prediction:

That would kill the Vikings chances at beating the BetUS online football wagering spread.

I like the Saints to cover the 3 ½ points. I also like the under 46 ½ in this game.
