NFL Week 8 Trends – Arizona Cardinals vs. Carolina Panthers

This is a key game for both of these teams as the Arizona Cardinals are coming off a bye week with a chance at extending their lead in the NFC West and the Carolina Panthers are coming off a scintillating victory over the New Orleans Saints but are still tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first place in the NFC South.

The Cardinals were impressive two weeks ago when beating the Dallas Cowboys at home in overtime. But that game might have been a mirage of how good Arizona really is. When they beat the Buffalo Bills, the Bills were without starting quarterback Trent Edwards.

The Cowboys had shown signs of losing their wheels the week before in a loss to the Redskins. By the time they visited the Cardinals, the wheels had started falling off. Online NFL betting fans need to take that into consideration when assessing how good the Cardinals are.

The Carolina Panthers have shown flashes of brilliance, like victories over New Orleans last week and a win over the San Diego Chargers in week one, and flashes of ineptitude, like their losses to Atlanta and Tampa Bay in their own division.

The real Panthers team is a group of hard knocking, tough, veterans. But that other team, the one that doesn’t know how to do anything right, will rear its ugly head once in a while. Cardinals vs. Panthers Week 8 SpreadLike the Cardinals, the Panthers are an iffy online bet proposition when they take the field.

Here are the BetUS online sportsbook betting odds in this game.

Kick-off: 10/26/2008 1:00 pm est.

Arizona Cardinals + 4 ½ – 110 + 180 O 43 ½ – 110
Carolina Panthers – 4 ½ – 110 – 220 U 43 ½ – 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game.

The Carolina Panthers are 6-0-1 against the spread in their last 7 games at home.
The Carolina Panthers are 6-2-1 against the spread in their last 9 games versus an NFC rival.
The Arizona Cardinals are 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 games versus a team with a winning record.
The Over is 13 and 3 in the Arizona Cardinals last 16 games versus an against the spread win.

This game is too tough to call against the BetUS online sportsbook betting spread. There’s just no other way to write it. The Cardinals are coming off of a bye week. Teams in the NFL coming off of a bye week usually play very well.

The Carolina Panthers are coming off of a very important victory over the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers could suffer a let down in this game. But the trends say Panthers.

NFL Week 8 Prediction:

I’m going to ignore an online bet against the spread in this game and make an online wager on the BetUS over 43 ½ points.

I see the Cardinals putting up a lot of points and the Panthers doing the same. The Panthers did shut down the Saints last Sunday, but it might be expecting too much for them to do that to two high-powered offenses in a row.
