NFL Week 10 Thursday Matchup – Denver Broncos vs. Cleveland Browns

The Denver Broncos travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns in the first Thursday night game of the season! Okay, the first game of the season was on a Thursday night, but this is the first real Thursday night game. The key for sports betting fans in this game is to realize that the Browns will be starting Brady Quinn as opposed to Derek Anderson. As far as I know, the change was made out of desperation. How will it affect this Browns’ team?

It could be a blessing in disguise for both Cleveland and football betting fans as Quinn has had adequate time on the bench in which to improve enough to lead an NFL squad. The Browns have been a disappointment this season but because they play in the AFC Conference, where only teams at this point are shoe-ins for the playoffs, they can turn things around starting with this game.

The Denver Broncos are one of those teams that has become a bit of a mess recently. They started out the season going 3 and 0. Now their record stands at 4 and 4. They are a good offensive team, but lack something on the defensive side. What has to be disturbing is how coach Mike Shanahan hasn’t gotten the most out of this team. Their running game is suspect, which is strange for Denver, and Jay Cutler has slowed down some after his ferocious start.

Here are the BetUS online sportsbook betting odds for this game.

Kick-off: 11/06/2008 8:15 pm est.

Denver Broncos + 3 – 105 + 145 O 46 – 110
Cleveland Browns – 3 – 115 – 165 U 46 – 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game.

The Denver Broncos are 0-4-1 against the spread versus a team with a losing record.
The Over is 12-4-1 in the Denver Broncos last 17 games versus a team from the AFC Conference.
The Cleveland Browns are 9 and 2 against the spread in their last 11 games at home.
The Cleveland Browns are 6 and 1 against the spread in their last 7 games following an against the spread loss.

The Broncos and Browns are two teams that are almost mirror images of each other. The main difference between the two is that the Broncos are doing what they’ve done many times in years past, play very well early and then implode as the season goes on.

The Browns have had to navigate through a difficult schedule so far but because the AFC is so awful Cleveland could secure a playoff schedule should they turn some things around.

Thursday Night NFL Football Prediction:

My gut tells me that the Browns are the better team and that they could be better with Quinn throwing the football. That’s the bet I’m going with Cleveland – 3 against the spread.
