Golf Betting – WGC Bridgestone Invitational – Firestone CC Predictions/Pick
World Golf Championship Betting – WGC Picks (Anyone but Tiger?)
Don’t put your NFL betting hat on just yet! The PGA Tour still has a few more important stops to bet on, including this week’s Bridgestone Invitational.
It’s a World Golf Championship event, which always means the field is rich with top-ranked players.
Who are the top picks this week?
THE ELITE – A.K.A. THE TIGER WOODS CATEGORY
Tiger Woods
Bridgestone Invitational odds: +150
Fresh off a breezy win at last week’s Buick Open, Tiger is a heavy favorite again this week. Even though his competition is tougher, he’s even better equipped to triumph this week. He’s won the Bridgestone an amazing six times in the last 10 years. There’s no reason to expect anything less than dominance from him again.
THE CONTENDERS
Phil Mickelson
Bridgestone Invitational odds: +1600
Mickelson only makes the “contenders” list because odds makers have placed him there. While he has made the top 10 in half his 2009 starts, he hasn’t played in several weeks after taking time off to be with his family. He should be rusty and, even if he isn’t, he hasn’t cracked the top 10 at the Bridgestone since 2003.
Anthony Kim
Bridgestone Invitational odds: +3300
Kim’s a hard guy to ignore this week, as his game sets him up to succeed at Firestone Country Club and he offers pretty solid sportsbook value. Think of him like you do Kenny Florian in the UFC 101 fight card; he’s not favored but he’s a totally legit threat to win. Kim has the length, the shot-making ability and solid recent play (four top-20s in five starts). He’ll contend through Sunday.
SOLID PICKS
Vijay Singh
Bridgestone Invitational odds: +4000
At face value, no handicapping software would recommend Vijay Singh. He hasn’t been the same since his knee surgery, with no top-five finishes this season. Then again, he’s the defending Bridgestone champ. It’s rare that a defending champ gives you +4000 value, so you have to consider Vijay.
Stewart Cink
Bridgestone Invitational odds: +3300
His last start was a win, and a big one – the British Open. He’s also totally comfortable at Firestone, having won there in 2003 and placed in the top 10 two other times. All those facts amount to a rock-solid pick, though he’s not my favorite choice simply because he may be rusty after several weeks off.
THE SLEEPER
Lucas Glover
Bridgestone Invitational odds: +6600
You could do much worse at +6600 value, don’t you think? While he’s stumbled over his last two tournaments, he was plenty hot after winning the U.S. Open. He has the right type of game for Firestone, as he’s a long hitter, so he could surprise this week.
Best daily sports pick: Tiger Woods +150

I am a Mickelson fan and have been riding that bandwagon, so I am sticking with it.
