AT&T National Betting – Tiger’s Tourney On Tap For PGA Tour
While most people are shifting their focus to the upcoming UFC 100 odds, we have one more weekend of other sports betting action before that takes center stage.
This weekend, the PGA Tour heads to Washington, D.C. for the AT&T National, which is hosted by Tiger Woods. The event will take place at Congressional Country Club.
Anthony Kim is the defending champ but isn’t exactly at the top of the list for the AT&T National odds. After he won this event last year, a lot of pundits felt that he was the next big thing in the PGA – and possibly Woods’ biggest contender – but that theory has soured as he has struggled this year.
Woods is back in the field this year after missing the 2008 event with his season-ending injury. He’s won a couple of times this year since returning but struggled at the US Open. The proceeds of this event will go to his charity, the Tiger Woods Foundation.
There aren’t a lot of top golfers in this field as only four of the Top 12 will part take. I’m betting management doesn’t it mind it that way as it makes the task a little easier for Tiger.
Paul Casey will be his highest ranking competition as Casey has risen up the standings quickly this year. He got his first win in April at the Houston Open and has been on a tear since.
Another Top 10 golfer to keep an eye on will be Jim Furyk, who has tied for third in both of the previous AT&T National events and has Top 11 finishes in five of his last six events overall.
If it wasn’t for Woods charge on Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Sean O’Hair would have two PGA Tour wins this year. He’s quietly moved up to 13th in the World Golf Rankings. He might be a bit intimidated by Woods still, so don’t expect him to win unless Woods is out of the pick.
2009 Free At&T National Pick
Woods has to be the sports pick here as you have to figure that the course is tailored to him.
So is the field, when you consider how many big names aren’t taking part (Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, etc.).

The club was founded by a group of legislators in the 1920s. Its list of founding members includes, Calvin Coolidge, Warren Harding, Woodrow Wilson, William H. Taft, Harvey S. Firestone, William C. Carnegie, William Randolph Hearst and Walter P. Chrysler.
One reply on “2009 AT&T National Preview/Picks”
The stage is set for the host to win his own tournament, as Tiger will look to erase the bad feelings from Bethpage. It would be great to someone like Kim or Casey challenge him on Sunday, but I still think he walks away the winner.
