Make money on the WSOP Main Event winner

The Main Event of the 2010 World Series of Poker kicks off Monday and once again betED.com is giving bettors a chance to wager on the winner.

This 41st WSOP, the largest poker event in the world, opened May 27, 2010 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and has had a total of 57 gold bracelets on the line.

The last stage of the WSOP is the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Championship – also known as the Main Event. The Main Event is slated to reach its final table of nine players on July 17. Then, as has been the custom for the past two years, play will be postponed until the fall, when the “November Nine” is broadcast live on ESPN from Nov. 6 to 9.

betED.com has WSOP Betting Odds for well over 100 professional poker players, and has Phil Ivey as the favorite at +8000 moneyline odds.

Gus Hansen of Denmark and Allen Cunningham of the U.S. round out the top three favorites at +10000.

Ivey, 34, is ranked the No. 1 tournament money winner in the world. He has won eight World Series of Poker bracelets, one World Poker Tour title, and has appeared at eight World Poker Tour final tables.

He has had great success in the WSOP Main Event, finishing in the top 25 four times between the 2002 and 2009.

Hansen, 36, has won three World Poker Tour open titles, and also won the 2007 Aussie Millions main event. Hansen has total live tournament winnings of more than $7.5 million.

Allen Cunningham, 33, is a full-time professional player at Full Tilt Poker. His biggest poker payday came at the 2006 WSOP, when he finished in fourth place in the Main Event and pocketed more than $3.6 million. He joined an elite group of players to win a WSOP bracelet three straight years when he won his fifth bracelet in 2007.
