The Ducks, though, weren’t expected to be in the division basement along with the Kings after recording back-to-back 100-point seasons (first two in franchise history) including their Stanley Cup run in 2006-07. After losing 4-1 at San Jose on Thursday, Anaheim looked heavy-legged again in a 4-2 defeat to Phoenix in its home opener Sunday.

San Jose has looked very strong to start the season, winning all three games by a combined 8-2 score. The Sharks followed a season-opening 4-1 victory over Anaheim with a home-and-home sweep of Los Angeles, winning 1-0 on Sunday.

Rick Nash has six goals in 17 career games against San Jose, but hasn’t found the back of the net in the last seven contests. Columbus has only had seven power-plays—converting on three—while the opposition has had 14.
