Flyers vs Bruins odds highlight Saturday’s NHL matinees
Flyers vs Bruins odds: Boston still rolling, leading the East
Red Wings vs Penguins odds: Pittsburgh’s struggles continue
Online sports betting players had high hopes for Pittsburgh at the beginning of the NHL betting season, but the Penguins find themselves outside of the playoff picture heading into the stretch run of the regular season. Pittsburgh will host the team that beat them in last year’s Stanley Cup Final, the Detroit Red Wings, in the weekend’s marquee NHL betting matchup on Sunday, while East leader Boston will face Philadelphia in a Saturday afternoon matinee.
Flyers vs Bruins odds – Saturday, February 7, 1:00 p.m. ET
Sportsbook odds weren’t predicting the Bruins to come on so quickly this year and, as of Thursday, they held a 12-point lead over Washington at the top of the Eastern Conference. They will be meeting a team they just beat on Wednesday, as they dropped the Flyers for the seventh time in 10 meetings, and the fourth time in a row.
Philadelphia has now lost three of its last four and is picking the wrong time of year to start slumping with teams like Carolina and Pittsburgh only a few points behind. The Bruins have been monsters at home this year, racking up a 19-3-3 mark so far, and they haven’t lost at TD Banknorth Garden in regulation since they fell 1-0 to Minnesota on Jan. 6. Boston fans will be out in full force, so bet on the Bruins.
Red Wings vs Penguins odds – Sunday, February 8, 12:30 p.m. ET
After dropping three straight road games, the Penguins returned home on Wednesday to nip Tampa Bay 4-3 in overtime behind a three-point night from Evgeni Malkin. The Penguins can’t seem to get on a run, especially at home where they are only 13-11-2 (before Friday’s game with Columbus).
Pittsburgh needs some secondary scoring, as most nights it’s left to Malkin and Sidney Crosby to carry the Pens. Of course, that problem can be attributed to Marian Hossa’s exit, as the sniper moved to Detroit after Pittsburgh’s loss to the Red Wings in the Cup Final. Counting the Final, the Red Wings have taken six of their last 10 against the Penguins, although Pittsburgh won a 7-6 shootout in Detroit on Remembrance Day.
The last five meetings between these two have been decided by a single goal, so those who bet sports can expect a close game. However, look for Detroit’s experience to offset the Pittsburgh fans, so bet on the Red Wings.
