The Montreal Canadiens lived to see another day and force Game 7 with a gutsy win over the Boston Bruins last night. They were outmuscled at times – or at least outgooned by guys like Milan Lucic – but they managed to squeak by 2-1. Both goals fittingly came on the power play; the Bruins seriously lacked discipline in Game 6, taking 25 minutes in penalties to Montreal’s six.

Can the Bruins bounce back with their best game of the series tonight? In theory, Game 7 is Boston’s to lose. But I think it’s far from a slam-dunk.

For one, we don’t know as of press time whether Lucic will play tonight. He could be suspended for his hit from behind on Jaroslav Spacek in Game 6. I think he will be. Secondly, the Bruins power play is an epically bad 0 for 19 in this series. Absolutely pathetic. Tomas Kaberle was supposed for form a dynamite one-two punch on the blue line with Zdeno Chara and make Boston deadly with the man advantage, wasn’t he? It just hasn’t happened. Whispers out of Boston are that the Bruins are quite disappointed with the Kaberle.

Thirdly, Habs goaltender Carey Price just isn’t letting the pressure get to him. He’s cool as can be and looks cooler by the game, compiling a 1.85 goals against average and .942 save percentage in this series. He’s allowed just three goals in three games (plus double overtime) at Boston for a goals against average under 1.00.

Lastly, the Habs have proven to be a clutch team over the last couple of seasons in the playoffs, going 6-1 over their last seven games when facing elimination. Say what you want about that diminutive forward corps but guys like Mike Cammalleri and Brian Gionta seem to get it done when it matters. Cammalleri has 16 goals and 28 points over 25 postseason games as a Canadien; Gionta has 12 goals and 19 points in 25 games.

I don’t think Montreal is the better team – but Boston had its chance and blew it. All the pressure is on the Bruins tonight – and I have a feeling they’ll crumble.

Canadiens vs Bruins prediction: Canadiens 3, Bruins 2
