Though the Bruins enter Game 6 of the Eastern Conference quarter-final riding a three-game winning streak and two straight overtime victories, it’s tough to put a finger on which team has the edge tonight.

After all, the Bruins had trouble putting teams away last season. They had four tries against the Flyers and blew a 3-0 series lead to lose in seven games. That’s a wound that doesn’t heal easily. Meanwhile, the Canadiens flourished last season when facing elimination, winning five times, and they’ll play in front of their home fans. So could they actually have the edge?

The Habs should at least be reasonably confident that Cary Price will keep them in the game tonight. While he coughed up a rebound to Nathan Horton for the winner in Game 5, he still stopped 49 of 51 shots. The bigger question is whether or not they’ll get the offensive contributions they need.

Through give games, only three Habs have more than one goal. Michael Cammalleri has seven points but no other Canadiens has more than three. Scott Gomez hasn’t scored a goal. Since the Bruins’ scorers appear to be heating up, someone has to step up for Montreal.

Four different Bruin players have two or more goals in the series. Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic have both started to show signs of life, greatly upping their shot totals over the last few games. They could be major factors on the forecheck tonight.

The pick:

I think it’s time for the Bruins to get the playoff monkey off their back. Their depth up the middle is shining through with guys like Patrice Bergeron having an outstanding series. Tim Thomas hasn’t been absolutely perfect but he’s been steady in goal. And Montreal never seems to put its best foot forward at home in this series. The Habs are 0-2 at the Bell Centre.

Boston has learned from last year’s failures and should show the same maturity and poise tonight that it showed in double overtime on Saturday night.

Bruins vs Canadiens prediction: Bruins 3, Canadiens 1

Money Line: Bruins -110
Spread: Bruins +1.5
Over/Under: UNDER 4
