Division leaders and Eastern Conference heavyweights meet in Boston on Thursday night as the Flyers try to maintain their lead in the Atlantic Division and in the Eastern Conference and the Bruins try to hold off the Montreal Canadiens in the Northeast Division. The Flyers have won four straight games while the Bruins have won two straight.

Philadelphia is 12-3-1 in their last 16 games and is a remarkable 14-4-3 away from home this season. They have not been beaten in regulation in 2011 so far! The Flyers have the 3rd best offense in the NHL (3.4 goals per game) and have been bolstered not by Richards and Carter but by Daniele Briere  who had three goals and an assist against Buffalo, and who has four goals and four assists in four games and who has 18 points in his last 12 road games. Scott Hartnell and Ville Leino have been solid as well lately for the Flyers.

Brian Boucher will likely start in goal on Thursday. He is an impressive lately with a 9-1-1 record in his last 11 games with a 1.98 goals against average. He and the Flyers defense – 7th in the NHL allowing 2.5 goals per game have been a handful all season long. Expect much of the same on Thursday night.

The Boston Bruins have been hot themselves. They are 6-1-3 in their last 10 games and are riding a two game win streak in which they have outscored their opposition 10-2. Three of the four lines scored against Ottawa in their last outing  -only the struggling line of Mark Savard (0 points in four games), Nathan Horton and Michael Ryder (1 point in 7 games) failed to score even though they had one on their best games in a long while.

Tuukka Rask started on Tuesday night which means that the Flyers will probably see Tim Thomas on Thursday. Thomas is still the league leader in goals against average and is 4-0-2 in his last seven games overall, is 5-1-1 with a 1.55 goals against in his last seven at home and is 5-1-1 in his last seven versus the Flyers.

Betting Prediction: The Philadelphia Flyers are 14-4-3 on the road this season and are 8-2 in their last 10 away from home. The Flyers sit atop the Eastern Conference and have won four straight games. Boston is 10-7-3 at home this season and has won two straight games.

The Flyers are overdue for a letdown game and Tim Thomas may just provide the backdrop for their first loss of 2011. Thomas has owned the Flyers and should do his part on the defensive end for Boston. A well balanced offense will do enough for the Bruins to extend their win streak to 3.

Pick: Boston Bruins -125
