The Vancouver Canucks play their second game in New York on Thursday when they visit MSG for their only game against the Rangers this season. The Canucks are as hot a team as there has been in the NHL this season and they will try to beat a Rangers squad that hasn’t beaten them since February 2004!

The Vancouver Canucks are simply on fire. Even when they are outplayed, they seem to still get the win as evidenced by their shootout victory on Tuesday against the Islanders. The Canucks are 14-0-3 in their last 17 games – that’s 17 straight in which they have earned at least one point.

Vancouver’s offense is all that is advertised! They are 2nd in the NHL – 3.4 goals per game, and they boast two of the hottest lines in the league. The Sedin twins each have five points in their last three games and Ryan Kesler has five goals in four. The Canucks can and will score with four lines.

Roberto Luongo got the win in Long Island so there is a chance that the Rangers could see Corey Schneider who is 3-0-0 with a 1.68 goals against average in his last three starts. If not, Luongo will take a 3-0-1 record in his last four starts into MSG.

The New York Rangers have been decent of late but are coming off a loss to Montreal, at home, on Tuesday night. The Rangers are 5-3-2 in their last 10 games but are an unflattering 10-9-1 on home ice. They will certainly be hard pressed to keep above .500 at home when they face the Canucks.

New York has the 13th ranked offense in the NHL (2.8 goals per game) but they did take a hit when they lost Alex Frolov for the season. Hopes are that Wojtek Wolski can acclimate himself to the Rangers system and contribute right away. Brandon Dubinsky has been hot with 4 goals and 7 assists in his last nine games, but the team concept has everyone contributing.

The Rangers are 6th in goals against and Henrik Lundqvist is once again the reason why. He is 3-1-1 in his last five starts with an impressive 1.56 goals against average.

Betting Prediction: The Vancouver Canucks are 26-9 in their last 35 games and are 13-5-3 on the road this season. The Rangers are 10-9-1 at home this season and have not beaten the Vancouver Canucks since 2004.

To say that the Canucks have the Rangers number is a colossal understatement! Vancouver looks simply unstoppable at the moment to boot. They will score in this game and I can’t see the Rangers being able to do enough offensively to keep up. The Canucks offense is elite and their defense is too. The Canucks sweep New York City and head to Washington on Friday night.

Pick: Vancouver Canucks -130
