Kings vs Rangers Finals Betting?

The Cup Is In The Building – Kings Look to Sweep Rangers Wednesday Night

The New York Rangers were put on the brink of a disheartening Stanley Cup Final series loss Monday night in a game that they should have won. Now the Broadway Blueshirts have to regroup and do something that only four teams in NHL history have done – come back to win four straight games after losing the first three of a series.

ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

New York doesn’t have to look very far to find the team that last accomplished that feat – the Kings did it in Round 1 against San Jose.

You’d have to think that the Rangers will be in tough to win just one game in the series – Jonathan Quick looks as though he is finally rounding into form and the Kings as a team played their worst game of the series but still escaped with a 3-0 win Monday.

We finally got to see the Jonathan Quick that we have all come to admire on Monday night – he made 32 saves, many of the dazzling variety and stole the game for LA. Prior to Monday’s game Quick had just a .907 save percentage in the Final but after a shutout in Game 3 he now has a more recognizable .938 save percentage in the series.

All LA`s offense did was put three past Henrik Lundqvist in Game 3 – below their playoff average but far above their regular season average.

The team has now scored 47 goals in 13 games on the road in the playoffs – 3.6 per game – impressive indeed. The Kings had eight different goal scorers in the first two games of the series and on Monday three different players scored while seven players recorded at least a point.

Balance has been the order of the day for the Kings – they are killing the Rangers with depth, efficiency and their strong physical play.

I said it before and I will say it again – for the Rangers to have a fighting chance Henrik Lundqvist has to be the best player on the ice. Three goals on 15 shots in Game 3 tell the story. Sure two of the three goals deflected off his own players but still King Henrik has not stolen a game for the Rangers yet and has given up 11 goals in the first three games of the series – hence the 3-0 hole.

New York’s power play continues to let the team down as well – they went 0-for-6 Monday night and continue to fail to convert on the few opportunities given them.

The Rangers have gone just 1-for-14 with the man advantage in the series with no real cause for optimism. But outshooting the Kings 32-15 in Game 3 should have produced a positive result.

Chris Kreider has one point in his last four games, Martin St. Louis has just a single point in five games, Rick Nash and Mark Staal are pointless in four games and Dan Girardi hasn`t hit the score sheet in five games.

Henrik Lundqvist is struggling for sure but he certainly isn`t getting any help from an offense that has gone cold at precisely the wrong time.

Help could come in the form of agitator Daniel Carcillo from suspension on Wednesday night. He could provide a much needed spark albeit a little too little, a little too late.

A few trends to consider:
• LA are 9-0 in their last 9 vs. Metropolitan.
• Over is 7-1-1 in LA last 9 overall.
• Under is 12-3-4 in LA last 19 vs. Metropolitan.
• NYR are 11-4 in their last 15 Wed. games.
• Under is 19-7-5 in NYR last 31 home games.

Of the nine Stanley Cup Final series to start 3-0 since 1982, eight have finished in a sweep – not a good sign for the Rangers. Despite saying all the right things ahead of Game 4 the wind has been completely and utterly taken out of New York`s sails.

Although there is a chance that the Rangers rally one last time, one goal against may just break their spirit. The Kings are a team of destiny – my guess is that they end it all Wednesday night.

Pick: LA Kings +126
